Word of advice. Make sure it's insured prior to leaving.

Why you ask would I and others say that?

My 16800 decided to go off on its own in St. Thomas, USVI.

Didn't notice till we got back to the ship. Never believed people who said they didn't notice that it went missing till it happened to me. If you wear it all the time you definitely forget it is there.

I filed a claim yesterday.
Sorry to hear of your loss.
St. Thomas sux...lots of crime.
Hope you got some scuba in.

Thanks. I was pretty pissed at first but then my wife was like, "It's insured."

I was more pissed that I had searched high and low for a silver date wheel for it. I finally find one and installed it right before we left. Got to enjoy the silver beauty for an entire 3 days. Luckily I was able to source a couple of them. :)

Thus my replacement will also have a silver date wheel. Thankfully I had switched out the LV insert for the original black one before I left.

Sorry. My "stupid" comment was not directed at you or your post...but in general, a lighthearted comment to the umpteenth "Is it safe to wear a Rolex ______" thread.

The way the forum posts often go, you can be typing a response and someone else posts ahead of you.

Apologies if I inadvertently got your knickers in a twist.
Thanks for posting and clarifying. Yes, sometimes my knickers get so twisted it feels like a wedgie. But don't worry, no pictures will be posted.

I've been robbed from a Hotel Safe...Ritz Carlton Cancun way back in the mid-90's...didn't have much in it - mostly things of sentimental value => safe was pulled out of the wall.

Had to deal with Cancun police, insurance, credit cards - the whole shabbang. Insurance took care of everything, but it was a lesson learned surely.

Go to google and type, "rolex forum, safe to wear". There's your answer. I'd recommend that everyone do a serach of TRF archives before posting questions that have already been answered.
