I finally got the call. Rolex 1016 just back from service

Dropped at Rolex AD for service. It was sent to Litiz, Pa.
Repair report:
complete movement overhaul
new crown
new watch band clasp
2 new watch band end pieces
1 new watch band link
polish
price was $1550.00
Drop off to pick up was 16 weeks
Watch came in a Rolex green pouch with a 2 year warranty card.
Watch looks like new. Not bad for a 42 year old watch.

Any of the old parts returned? Maybe the bracelet parts, at least?

Fantastic! Sorry about the incredibly long wait. That’s never fun.
What year is yours?

(Sorry! Just did the math)

Way better “I got the call” thread compared to the ones in the general forum.

Nice to know they will still service them! Cost seems reasonable as well.

Nice to know a service center is within two hours of travel. Do they allow you to pick up after service or do they require the watch to be shipped?

$1550 with a new bracelet? That seems like a steal.

1 clasp, 1 link, 2 end links, not a full bracelet if I got it right.

Update: The watch was running -7 seconds. So I returned it to the AD and asked for repair under warranty. The AD sent it back to the Lititz, Pa service center. The watch was returned four weeks later. Now the watch is running -2 seconds. This is acceptable and the norm for this watch.

Do you remember how many times it’s been serviced since 1979?

Service intervals were generally every 3-5 years. Except once it was 10 years.

A pic of the Rolex service 2 year warranty card. The AD told me not to lose the card.
