PP 5975G - thoughts?

Always kind of liked this one but seemed to be universally disliked. Price has slipped down to $50-60k . Any chance that it might be a good “buy” at these levels or you think that it will remain the red headed step child. Happy to hear any and all thoughts (I’m getting a little tempted !)

I like the 5975, the stepped lugs are very cool, the multi scale is fun, and the anniversary markings/limited is a plus...But, in this style, I'm partial to the 5170. Prices are soft for both (relatively speaking)..opportunities abound.

I also like the watch. Only 400 pieces, so fairly rare. Great size, 40x10. Unique dial.

Watchbox just sold one with asking price of 50k.

It’s a little pointless as it’s got a chrono movement, but isn’t a chrono.

Unless you want to measure your pulse in your race car in a thunderstorm - then you’ve found your perfect watch.

Weirdly I kinda like it though.

Aesthetically I find it attractive which trumps all but my head keeps saying this watch is totally useless.

Same sentiment here. Aesthetically it's a good looking watch, I like it. Real word useful application, not so much

You can use the 5975 to measure pulse in all circumstances.

I like the 5975 series too, P is my favourite.

Haha, where’s the fun in that? If I had a 5975 I’d be using all three scales

I think the P is best too, the black dial looks really nice.

Reminds me of the 5930G just with a white face...

It wouldn't hurt to negotiate and try to get a sweet deal. Good luck!

The sports watch craze is undoubtedly putting downward pressure on prices, but it seems the 5975 was unloved by the community from the get go. Not sure why, fantastic looking watch (admittedly not the most useful chrono in the world). The low prices have me thinking about it as well (my pick is the J).

A sad fact of life. A balanced collection should have a bit of both but today’s newer buyers are all about hype and crazes

I have an unworn (actually still-sealed) 5975R that I bought in a fit of enthusiasm back in 2015, but ended up never wearing as I prefer my 5140G.
I am wondering whether there has been any general improvement in the market, or is this doomed always to be a loser ?

I have actually had an offer of US$ 62,500 for it from a dealer with whom I am regularly in touch and from whom I have bought a couple of watches. Should I be biting his hand to take the deal ??

I feel the 5975 is quite a special watch and is yet under-appreciated for unknown reasons. If you like it, I would say go for it!

I was offered the 5975R during the anniversary back almost 10 years ago and passed on it. But it is a great watch.
