MVMT Watches are Better Than Rolex!!!!

I’ll play Devil’s advocate...Looking as objectively as I can, it’s a great paid for ad. Make no mistake that’s what it is, an Ad not an objective review. His target audience is those that are likely to buy a MVMT watch. So not us. He gave complete respect to Rolex and said he finds MVMT better in the following areas:

1) Affordability - he is right
2) Availability - he is right
3) Heritage - He is right in how he defines it. He says he relates more to a couple of millennials starting a company via crowdfunding over a guy named Hans and Alfred starting a watch company in 1905.

If I was going to give someone money to promote a cheap glamor watch to millennial bros I would probably give this guy a call.

The guys who founded the company sold it for a cool coin. Look 'em up. The watches are not for the average TRF reader, but the company played the game nicely.

1) Why is he yelling at me?

2) Who is this guy? I've never heard of him, and that video doesn't make me want to watch anything else he's created. (Basically paid advertising, I'm assuming)

3) How does a 5-year old brand making cheap quartz watches for $5 have a better heritage than a 100+ year old brand known for numerous watchmaking and technological accomplishments throughout their history? WTF....?

4) If I had only $200, I would buy a Seiko SKX before every buying one of those ugly pieces of junk (including the new automatic he was wearing on his wrist).

I've seen a few angry wis followups so no need to watch. Ineffective marketing campaign - Who the hell will buy one because this prat says such blatant bought and paid for BS? I hope he's not a TRF member because I've seen a YT thumbnail preview of him holding up 3 Rolexes but seriously.

I was out as soon as he said “here’s why MVMT watches are better than Rolex. Number one: Heritage”

(Click)

And now going about my day enjoying the rest of TRF.

After watching this, I've seen MVMT ads pop up everywhere. Dang interest-based advertisting.

My mind quickly thinks... these ads obviously are free because obviously, a great brand would never charge more than their manufacturing cost.

He is ultra popular, and I think he was featured on Shark Tank like twice, and think they invested in him. And this after we was already successful on his own

But he is taking a LOT of heat for this video as a "sell out" and not being true to his subscribers

"Federico" had one up, but took it down.

He’s saying the whole video was satire.

Doubt it 100%. Pathetic backtracking.

Business strategy:

1 Buy a bunch of Chinese knock off watches for 5 bucks a pop.

2 Market to hipster Millennials

3 Sell $5 watch to them for $200

4 Convince fashion watch company you are hot $***.

5 Sell company for $100,000,000

Watch for the dudes' GC incomings on the PP thread.

#5— so true!

Similar to discount store execs rocking high-end sh*t in boardrooms. Sell to the masses on volume, go for extravagant stuff in private.
