250 Rolex watches stolen at Doha Airport

Kind of unbelievable. 250 Rolex watches ?
Glad he got caught.

A man has been arrested at Egypt’s Cairo International Airport after 250 Rolex watches were stolen from Doha’s Hamad International Airport.

The man is suspected of stealing the luxury watches, worth millions of Qatari Riyals, from a shop at the airport before boarding an EgyptAir flight on Monday morning, customs officials said.

Airport security discovered the theft shortly after the flight took off, it was reported. Security then joined forces with the Egyptian carrier Cairo airport, and the Interpol to arrest the suspect on his arrival.

Police confiscated the watches. No details were revealed on how they were stolen.

I'm sure my Platona was one of those! How do I file a claim to get it back?

I never understood why there is a market for stolen Rolex watches... I wonder what the demographic is for people buying stolen watches. Maybe these people never have their watch serviced by legit jewellers.

I was speaking to an independent evaluator a couple of months ago and he said, when they rob a store, they ignore Patek Philippe and other high-end brands and just steal the rollers. Unreal.

The salesman in this case had the warranty cards too, but these watches would be able to have been traced back to the shop no doubt if he was to sell them.
