Date Wheel Changing Over 11:45pm

As stated in topic, recent acquisition said to have been serviced in 2015 by what seems a non Rolex AD.

Date wheel flips over at 11:45pm

Otherwise time keeping is perfect.

Bit of input from those who know, does it call for a very technical remedy?

Cheers.

Something like that is hardly worth the effort and cost..

The movement has to be taken out and the hands repositioned.... even then you may only change it by a few minutes ..

Thanks for the reply, it's obvious I've lurked here for some years w/o much posting.

So your opinion is this may be OK?

Never saw a Rolex from their service centers do this, so is it a sign of perhaps
shoddy workmanship? as would think this date wheel flip is something quite obvious when inspecting the watch?

- Cheers.

It's not damaged or harmful. But not acceptable to Rolex standards.
When the hands are applied after the movement is serviced the watchmaker needs to make sure that the date changes somewhere between 23:59 and 00:02.
Now we all make mistakes and this is not a big one, but it's still a mistake.

Spoke to Rolex NYC service center today in regards to this and the only way they would set the hands so the date clicks over at exactly midnight is via a full service.

Shame as have been going there for 20 years or so and were at one time treated graciously for owning one of their products.

Yes, for the Rolex Service Center to do this they would require the full service. Once Rolex opens your watch it is exposed to the air and all it's contaminants. It would also need the pressure test etc. Also, they do not want to be responsible for the previous watchmaker's work and by opening the case they would possibly be. So, a simply hand alignment is not so simply for the "Rolex Way".
