126755 SARU from AD

It's been a tough week, and the close wasn't any easier! My AD has offered me the new gem set Everose GMT with black dial and unadorned oyster bracelet. In terms of Gem set this is the most low key format for the GMT, It's being offered at £83500 brand new from my AD and I'm struggling with the justification to buy. I'd love to get the thoughts from the TRF community about this. I've got a good relationship with my AD, I buy about 10 pieces annually and this is the first time I've been offered a hot gem set models, so I don't want to harm my purchasing power by turning it down, but in the same breath it is still expensive.

Thoughts and feelings welcomed by the community.

Also the photo is not my own, it's just for reference.

Cheers

J

Besides the rainbow Daytona, I genuinely did not know there was such as thing as 'hard to get gem sets".

Also, I guess for those that wonder what VVIP looks like this must be it!

I think if you're hesitating, that says it all. Maybe go for a longer coffee to see how you feel it about it beyond just a few minutes on the wrist? Love the RG contrast the black dial without the brown bezel getting in the way. Feel very luke warm about the diamonds on the crown though...maybe because it takes away from the color of the RG.

As always, if you don’t love it, don’t buy it, no matter what anyone else thinks. Otherwise it will always be a regret. Personally I think this is a gorgeous piece, which I would happily rock.

I think the everose GMT with the ceramic brown and black bezel is much better. Those gems just don't do it for me.

I also have the 18k CHNR, so the gem set SARU will be a companion piece to it.

This is one of the most gorgeous timepiece. If money is no object, get it now. I think it will worth a lot more money in the future.

But if you don't really love it, don't get it.

I would never have thought I’d like a gem set or diamond set watch, HOWEVER... this is awesome! That being said, it’s a lot of cash, but if you can spare it, then why not. It would compliment any other GMTs in your collection for sure.

I was offered it and passed. It was too expensive and I couldn’t justify it. Beyond beautiful though.

If you’re buying 10 pieces a year, turning down something you’re not sure about shouldn’t change your relationship with your AD one bit.

That piece doesn’t do it for me though, no way.

Im all for diamond watches. But for me personally that bezel looks messy there’s too much going on.

I don't personally love it, just because I don't find that find the rose gold, red, and blue go together all that well.

I have absolutely nothing against the gem-set pieces, however, and if I could afford a SABR sub I'd be wearing it right now.

But don't buy it unless you love it. Don't buy any watch unless you love it -- what's the point? From your post, you don't seem to love it. And your AD isn't going to be offended if you don't take it.

Everyone has a differing limit of what they can and can’t justify to themselves for a plethora of reasons, money usually being one.

A watch like this is way outside my means financially so it makes my decision easy.

As far as the watch itself is concerned, if gem set is your thing then this is a really nice reference and I think is hard to beat.

If you’re buying 10 references a year from your AD then you shouldn’t have any concerns turning this down. It’s not going to effect your buying power through him at all and the last thing you need to worry about is kissing his *** buying this to keep them sweet. In the immediate future AD’s need someone like you more than you need them, and as someone has already mentioned, if you really want it at a later date, you’re AD will make one appear I’m sure.

I wouldn't worry that turning this down would impact your standing given how many other watches you purchase.

That said, it's absolutely beautiful and I would grab that in a heartbeat. Almost as good looking as the Everose Rainbow Daytona, which I never thought I'd say.

If you’re struggling with the idea of purchasing a piece like this I think the best thing is to take a step back. There should be zero chance that your relationship will be impacted as a result. My guess is you’ve been offered this because you’re a valued client and it would not change that view if you said no thank you. Good luck, it’s a very cool piece either way.

If you buy ten pieces a year, you already know what to do. Are you in the UK? If the watch is in the US, PM me with AD contact info, I would like to have it Thank you.
