There are people, I’m one, who dislike the maxi case design.....too ‘blocky’ and bulky. I think Rolex know it’s a bit ungainly and will slim it down and round it off.
But if you don’t mind the current version then follow the overwhelming advice and buy it. Can’t lose.

He decided already, a no brainer, buying it! As I mentioned before, the value of the current versions will skyrocket. The owner of a local dealer said the demand for the current will keep going up. I have the 114060, but first on the waitlist for new no date just in case. I also am on the waiting list for Daytona and Batman. I like the current case to be a little different than the gmt, so that might cause me to keep my current one. Great problem to have, but buy it so you have that “problem”!

One of the best selling watches since 2008 I don’t think Rolex is in a big rush to change it! Love the case, makes it feel more like a solid watch and not a dress watch.

You think the value of the current sub will go up if a new one comes out??

You can always buy the current Sub and if you decide you like a newer version better sell it.

The way I see it, why pay full price for something that will instantly become an old model in less than two months?

I would wait; unless the AD is giving you a healthy discount on this soon to be outdated piece. For the kind of money I would want the latest and greatest.

You’ve had a ton of input and looks like you are going to grab it.

You should! Get the sub. Odds are you will now be able to purchase a “new model sub” anytime in the 2020s...

100% because the cost of new one will be more and demand will be high. The biggest dealer in my area agreed not just some random dude saying this. No doubt.

It is funny to me this is still going on. First of all he already said he decided to get it. Second of all we have no idea if the sub is coming out. Third of all we have no idea if the sub SS is coming out this year. 4th of all, without seeing the sub, outside the movement, which I am sorry most people don’t give a rats butt about, is even going to change much. Are we all forgetting this is a SUB! He buys it, loves it, keeps it, or maybe loves the new one more, trades it in, won’t have to pay even 2k for the difference if that. Buy the sub enjoy and figure the rest out later!

It will be worth more than full price once discontinued. That is how this all works.

Just for a little clarity around the accuracy claim.
The current 31xx movement as fitted into the Subs, is actually held to the same accuracy standard as the 32xx movements.
And has been for 5 years now with no reports of its accuracy diminishing like some examples of the 32xx movement.

Simple. If a new Sub does come out, you can either spend the three years on the waiting list with a 116610 on your wrist or without a 116610 on your wrist. Easy decision.

Rolex enthusiasts care about more than the “latest and greatest”.

September 2020:

Rolex CEO walks into the scene:

“Good morning!”

He turns to the screen:

“Here’s our latest and greatest Rolex ever.”

Screen goes dark, then reveals a sub. It’s a serti dial submariner. No updates regarding the caliber.

“Thank you!”

End of streaming.

MSRP 15’000chf - rarer than a SkyD Blue, need to save the life of your AD and become a shareholder of Rolex to be put on the list. Already 5 year wait.
Grey market price 25’000chf

Traditionally Rolex have always released new models in PM first - but Rolex being Rolex who knows, anything could happen ?

The GMT has a new movement, new SS color (Pepsi), new bracelet, but yet the super case remains.

Why would they keep the super case for the GMT and not the Submariner?

Not very noticeable to the eye, but the new GMT has slightly more tapered lugs. If the movement and the slight lug difference is the only difference, not worth the wait if you can get one now in my opinion.

Yes, I know they made changes, but like you said, they're not noticeable.

BOTTOM LINE: Super Case remains.

Got it - agree. I really think they are keeping the super case.

The super case will be around for the foreseeable future. The new GMTs already confirmed this.
