Air-King / Explorer 5500
Hi Guys,
I need a bit of help! Have come across a 5500 Air-King / Oyster Perpetual with the explorer dial which all seems to be in order. The case serial matches the year and dial of 1964. I am a bit concerned though to find a 1560 movement inside, as from what I understand these 5500 Explorers only contained 1520/30 calibre movements. Am I wrong on this? Many Thanks! |

The first question to ask is whether it is truly a cal 1560, or just a swapped plate, which is common.
I assume you are already aware that many supposed 5500 Explorers have been tampered with.

Thanks Dan!
Yes good point, a bit hard to tell and there is no service history or papers to help. Think I will stay away from this one! |
