Elusive, all red, GMT 24-hour hand

A friend of mine just purchased a large quantity of Rolex parts and tools from an estate sale. Last night, he sent me the photos below of an all red GMT 24-hand! (The red, seconds hand is from a YachtMaster.)

There are many theories on why these hands are completely red, but they don't show up very often and are usually found on the mid-1970's GMT's.

Personally, I believe they were painted completely red by mistake and installed on the watches until the supply ran out.

Hopefully, it will be on its way to Texas soon!

I wonder how many of these red GMT hands are owned by TRF members? You both might be the only 2?

Larry might have one, but I've never seen one posted here before. I have seen one or two reds on the VRF.

I have to get him to part with it first. That might be easier said than done. We'll see.

Nice find John! Don't let VRF Orchi find this thread!

The all-red with the Lunette Bleu bezel insert are my favorite 1675 combination. Talk about rare. The all-red came up here on TRF yesterday. I have always loved them, mistake or not.

Hey John, how many all-red GMTs do you recon emerged from Rolex? This is hotly debated. I'm not up on any recent developments

I couldn't even guess at the number but I do know that they aren't plentiful at all.
