Like someone else said April fools day came early. Springbars are a Single point of failure they need to be replaced regularly because they can fail and you will lose the watch.

I've really looked after my watch and all the associated gear. The box, polishing cloth, tags, card, bottle of bubbly from the AD, age appropriate catalogue and valuation have all been stored in a dry and dust free environment. This will help future values for sure.

The watch went in for a service and I specified no polishing, obviously. Picked the watch up today. Running fine. Not polished - good. But, as I walked out I had a thought. I popped back to check and yes, they've put new spring bars on it! Must admit l lost it. I never asked for these. I guess I was also angry at myself for not saying not to change them. I told the person to go find my originals. Apparently they just get tossed away with all the others. Not tagged or anything.

I tried to explain my watch's originality and value had been ruined due to their incompetence but it didn't seem to register.

What can I do to rectify this?

I figure that's the weakest point of the 5 digits. Other than the spring bars of course!

Now I’m really disappointed, I was hoping to acquire that now ruined package. Not for the watch, which I couldn’t care less about, but that well conserved old bottle of bubbly seemed really compelling.

They also replaced the original air that was inside the watch with brand new fresh air. Totally unacceptable.

This just in some guy from Essex has been found guilty of artificially aging spring bars, the Rolex international court of appeal has sentenced him to 10 years of exclusively only being able to buy Invicta!!

I’ve been teetering on the edge lately about getting off TRF (and the watch hobby in general) as of late due to the frivolous, nonsensical postings I’ve been seeing.

If this is legit….it may just be the final straw for me.

Agreed. Huge waste of valuable site bandwidth, isn't it.
Well, we can always choose an "ignore" selection for any poster, and then the OP's posts will not be seen. I already did it it with one "mass poster" who posts nothing but dozens of endless garbage posts, and may do it with this one too.

This would be like complaining that your mechanic changed your oil filter at the last oil change.

Is this a joke? The bonkers state of the Rolex market at present. People think their watch is a Picasso painting and their retirement fund - rather than a watch which will get wear and tear and eventually need to be replaced with a new one. The quicker sanity, and the supply of watches return to normal, the better.

A week after this thread was moved to the Jokes section, some are still asking if it's a joke. Imagine if we'd left it in Rolex General Discussion

Whoa, don't even joke about that. You might as well just have the dang thing crushed once the original filter has been removed.

To the OP, I feel for you.. let me know the year and model of your watch and I will look, I am sure I will have a correct set. Keep in mind they won't be cheap, but consider how it will save the value of your watch. You're probably looking at $1800 or so for a correct date coded set, which is a bargain really... that is unless they are the really rare ones which can run up to $3200.

But, even worst, they removed the original oil and replaced it.

I insist on removing the oil fiter myself at all times. Imagine if some of the wear debris inside the filter would enter the engine...
