Best blue dial Speedy?

First off i'll start with the disclaimer that i'll 99.9% never be able to get a Snoopy edition at MSRP or will be willing to pay the 30-40k for it second hand, so that's not an option.

My eye is drawn towards these configurations, both gorgeous blue dials with subdials that aren't too busy, and no awkward placement of date complications.

So far i've narrowed it down to the Tokyo 2020 special edition:

And the limited run CK2998 anniversary edition from 2017:

I wish I could mix and match elements from each. I love the dial colors and subdial colors on the CK2998, but the legibility on the Tokyo edition looks better. Prefer the bezel on the CK2998, but like the hands -- especially the red tipped chronograph hand! -- on the Tokyo model.

Thoughts? Price difference isn't more than a thousand or two now, but is one more likely to become out of reach if I wait a year or two than the other? Anyone have some nice high-res pics, preferably in sunlight, of one or the other?

Has to be the Mark III, pure 70s and so much going on. But of those two, probably the CK2998 (I like vintage)

I own the Tokyo 2020 often called the blue reverse panda. Pics don't do this watch justice. The blue dial with white sub dials is a gorgeous piece on the wrist. I never owned a blue watch until this one popped up on my radar. It's definitely a show stopper. Being a 1 of 2020 and only released to the Japanese market makes this a unique Speedmaster. I think they'll retain and increase in value.

Always been a fan of that CK2998.

For the best Speedmaster ownership experience, I would choose the CK2998 now, and then some day add a good old Speedmaster Professional, which delivers on the toolish attributes we love, such as legibility.

I love my Speedmaster 57 and how it looks great with many different straps/bracelets.

I've enjoyed collecting watches for several decades now and narrowed my focus to almost entirely Rolex models around 20 years ago. But, with that being said, when I saw the 2020 blue Olympic Speedmaster, I had to have one. It is just an outstanding example and gorgeous to look at and admire.

I’ve had the CK2998 since it came out and it’s a keeper for me. A great watch that looks amazing and fits really well. As a bonus, it’s also quite a strap monster. I’ll attach a few pics.

Gorgeous, thanks. I'm a 90% lean to the 2998 at this point, I wish I could see them both in person somewhere

I'm sure the OP would love to get one at MSRP if possible. But yes, I agree that the Snoopy 50 is the best blue dial.

I think the Gemini 4 or Tokyo 2020 in blue is the better looking/wearing watch. But I prefer professional vs straight lug fois case like the ck2998. Had both and kept the Tokyo 2020 myself. But the ck is no slouch, I just had other pandas to keep need happy. All very versatile and strap monsters.

Ah......you're right but couldn't help myself In that case the CK2998 is the clear winner!!!!

I agree. I had the Blue Tokyo and it is both beautiful and the best value among those mentioned. I did sell it recently but only because I try to keep the collection at a reasonable size and had no room for another Speedy or blue dial.

Strong contender right here. Looks great on strap or bracelet, one of my personal favorites.

It's the CK2998 or Snoopy for me.

The blue Aventurine moon phase is nice too

The '57 with SS bezels are so underrated, love the non-exaggerated elongated lugs, nice mix of vintage and modern and an actual nice bracelet for a change.

Why not both?

Honestly, tough choice, but since I have the FOIS, I would pick the Tokyo Speedy in this case.

Both are excellent choices. I think either will serve you well. Personally; I love the new blue dial Speedmaster Chronoscope, but I understand that is not exactly what you are looking for (as you don't want a busy dial).
