Rare Paul Newman Daytona on eBay right now.

Link Is this guy serious? I knew nothing of vintage Daytonas but this new eBay listing looks suspiciously like this one from Phillips that sold for 408,000 CHF.

This seller has a massive dump of watches approximately twice a year and they are generally legit. He is no expert, however, and you can't get more photos or information.

I wonder where he gets them. I've been to estate sales regularly and can't seem to find quality like those.

I have no idea where he gets his stock from, he is local to me and believe me nothing this good around here.

He puts together this kind of auction twice a year? It's a pretty impressive list if you page through what he's selling. Some are very nice.

All at no reserve!

Yes, two or three times a year. Sometimes 100 watches, each with a handful of photos under poor lighting. Always no reserve auctions.

I browsed through his auctions. There is an obvious fake Omega in there

He tours our country and puts out 2 to 3 times per year a mailer to each household in every city larger than 50k. Has been for at least the last 5-10 years. Watches are just one of many categories.

You have to be very careful, but you can get a bargain

He will not be helpful though and no additional pics or questions answered...

I'm trying to check his other listings but nothing shows up? Or am I doing something wrong?

99 negative feedbacks in the last year. I wouldn't buy a pair of socks from this guy, never mind a very expensive vintage Rolex, authentic or not.

18,000 plus sales a month and just looking at the negs it’s stuff like “can’t set the time!” On a $2 watch that he sold as ‘non working’. Next one is “took his time posting”. There’s no pleasing some people and selling thousands and thousands of things a month I can imagine it’s par for the course. I’ve received negative feedback on a watch sale and the prat stated the light (on a cheap Casio) was dim when it was clearly in the description that the light was dim!

Feedback wouldn’t put me off, if something is very wrong eBay will let you return anyway.

Not sure about your hunch - the Phillips auction was for one listed as “Case No: 3'048'248”.

The eBay listing you shared is for a different 6263: s/n 3048309.

So I’d expect them to resemble each other but nothing beyond that...

Currently at $58,300 with 100 bids and 4 days to go. *Roughly* what would this be expected to bring at a Phillips auction or similar?

651 current auctions, 233 watches/bracelets (93 of those Rolex/Tudor), nearly all of the rest are coins and sports memorabilia. It does make one curious about the source(s) of his inventory!

New eBay bidders will get capped at 100k without being aware. This happened with the Tudor watch Hq scooped a few years ago. It is a process to be allowed to bid above that amount.

I already explained his source. Tours the country with a flyer in every single mailbox. Has been for years. Buys tens of thousands of pieces some are watches. He spends zero time on the item and let’s the simple picture decide. Not a perfect model but he seems content with his margin

I thought you meant those flyers were for selling, not buying.

He obviously knows enough about vintage Rolex to be able to state 'all parts are authentic'. Or just works on the basis that if the odd one is returned for having a fake part, its just a drop in the ocean when you're selling 18K odd items a month.

I remember one time he had a set up in a hotel lobby so i took some old sports cards i collected from my childhood and wanted to turn into cash and the offers were so laughable i was in and out in 2 mins and didnt sell a single thing. I had 6 Wayne Gretzky rookie cards valued at about $900 a piece and he offered me a thousand dollars for all 6 lol, i could see we werent going to get a deal done.

So weird, I don't get why it doesn't show the other listings. Thought ebay was global.
