Also…feeling stupid but I’ll ask. How do you manually wind these? Unscrew crown ti first position and turn clockwise like Rolex (where you hear a rubberish friction) or counter clockwise where you hear nothing at all?

Congratulations! For winding, just unscrew the crown at position 0 and at position 1, turn 20 to 30 rounds clockwise. As it is automatic, your hand movement will power the rest.

So then I am supposed to wind through a rubbing friction sound as with Rolexes? I ask because on my 5905 there is practically zero sound when I wind.

I seem to remember Patek manuals always says 10 times. But you can't really harm it I'd imagine unless you'd overwind it 100x etc. I'd just wind it 10-20 times and wear the watch. Just make sure you use the safe time periods when you use the correction pushers setting time. Enjoy.

You indeed go clock-wise like most of the watches, once it's unscrewed.

The 5905 makes no sound because it's equipped with a specific movement (28-520) that surprisingly doesn't make the sound indeed.

You are right my friend
I just read the manual which says "10 clock-wise turns of the crown".

I believe one time I was at a grey dealer's shop trying on various Patek's, one of the watches (I forgot which one, I think it was a 5980) did not make any sound when I attempted to wind it, silly me thought the grey dealer messed it up by applying too much lubricants in the gears or something... learn something new everyday!

haha, indeed the same thing with me when I tried a 5960 for the first time (28-520, like the 5980), I thought the crown wasn't pushed back correctly ^^
