On Invicta Watches

Hi,

I'm new in this forum but have been visiting quite often, almost everyday, reading through the threads. I recently bought my Omega Seamaster James Bond Quartz (junior size) last 3 weeks and am loving it very much! Been wearing it everyday except Friday's when I have to commute to work and wear short sleeves (I don't want my watch to be scratched by the people walking around me :) ).

Anyway, I have been looking at Seiko's Kinetic Perpetual line (the leather strap of the stainless steel with black face) for a while and been reading Vukotab's passion for Seiko. I agree, it truly is a good watch, Seiko with their own movement. However, as I was passing by the local watch store in the mall, I happen to chance by Invicta. I was surprised as I did not expect to see this brand here in the Philippines. I was even surprised more when I found out Invicta's price range. The Speedway costs just P15,000 (USD340) and the Pro Diver around P12,000 (USD270). Is this really the price range for Invicta? And how is the Miyota movement as we have the Japan made movements here. I've read some threads discussing the Invicta very lightly. Is this a good watch? And I am sort of afraid of their design as they are very close to Rolex's Submariner (Pro Diver) and Daytona (Speedway). Would you encourage me into getting an Invicta?

Help...if the people here say it's good, I might make a 2nd look to buy the watch. The Seiko Kinetic Perpetual is reserved for December :)

If you like the style and the budget is inline, go for it! Don't expect the same quality as an Omega or Rolex but I have an old speedway and it has served me well. The service department in Florida is horrible and returned my watch with missing numbers in the subdials when i sent it in and refused to fix it. The silver outer rings in the subdials all fell off and were floating on the MOP dial... You get what you pay for and if i were going for a Japenese movement, I would go Seiko for sure!

Go for the Seiko and don't look back. The best bang for the buck under $300.00 in my view is Seiko, Citizen, and Orient.

Best Regards,

Thomas Carey

Thanks Thomas Carey. Good thing I consulted with you guys first on the Invicta. Atleast I've erased that from the list of watches I would want for my Christmas gift.

I saw a Certina around the mall near where I work. Is this also a good watch to add to my list of choices with Seiko? I know that it's also part of the Swatch conglomerate so the movement atleast I am sure is also of good quality. What do you think?

Go with the Seiko. I have worn this one for years.

I gave an Invicta to the better half as part of her Christmas gift a few years back and the thing just fell apart. I threw it away and bought her something better. I do still have two here that are mens watches brand new in the box. I will most likely sell them on Ebay eventually. In my view there are better brands at every price point Invicta covers.

Best Regards,

Thomas Carey
