Omega Speedmaster Mk II

I tried this new model on a few days ago. I currently have a Speedy Pro so I was very keen to try this one. Well, I could buy this particular one for about $ 4,300

What I thought was nice:
Everything about the dial, it is pefect for me.
Bracelet is brushed and looks really great.
The quality and finish is excellent.

What I do not like:
Thickness, its diameter to thickness ratio is not ideal and looks too fat.
The date adjuster on the left side is not a deal breaker but why is it required on a watch like this?
The styling of case, but I guess it is supposed to look like this. The lack of lugs needs a bit of getting used to.

How to make it right:
Make a titanium version that is 2mm thinner

I have a friend with one and IMHO, it's quite nice. I love the unique look of the case and the dial is superb.

Yes, agree on most of your points. But I also find the watch way too heavy, and very top heavy at that, meaning it's not balanced between a heavy watch head and heavy bracelet. The head itself just seems crazy heavy. Still, the design and face is stunning, especially the version with the orange/red hands. That's a great price. The Omega boutique in Manhattan is selling it for about $6.5K.

I would have preferred a thinner manual wind version. I agree with you that it looks too fat on the wrist.

Thank you for your point of view, I would not have known about the thickness issue without your write up and pictures. The promotional photos don't really accurately convey the thickness and I'm glad to hear it from someone who's had it on their wrist!

I like it . I don't want to own it but I like it. The dial with the orange accents is sublime though

The entire Co-Axial line is T-H-I-C-K. Easily my biggest gripe about them. I don't think I could handle one of the new MkII Speedys - especially compared to my feather-light and paper-thin Breitling.

I saw one and you are right on about the date adjuster. I rather live without it and turn the crown for the date ...

I haven't seen one in the flesh but I love the look. This is my favourite new release this year. I also like a watch with a bit of heft to it.

Might have to check it out.

I really like the look of it, in fact it made me look at the vintage Speedmaster MKIIs and I was surprised that it's possible to find a good used one for well under $2K USD... Might have to see about picking one of those up later this year.
