Took off all the stickers today and it was actually a little intense. Omega doesn’t have anything like that. But removing the stickers makes it feel as though it will never be new again.

In the plus side it’s such a beauty!! Very glad I went new on this one.

Thanks for the warm welcome all. It was easier to jump over to the dark side than i thought it would be :)

I almost bought the DSSD years ago but couldn’t get over the size.

The Rolex looks almost stocky next to its more slender rival. To illustrate my point I will exaggerate saying it's as if the dwarfed dial is cramped, being surrounded by a fat bezel. This is the only thing I would have changed in the SD43 and DSSD, a visibly larger dial at 30/31mm) in proportion with the rest of the watch. I understand from the Rolex catalogue that the SD43 dial gained only 1 mm next to the Sub's and DSSD's, which is barely noticeable.

But hey no watch is perfect and I'm splitting hairs here. Overall the SD43 remains my favorite diver and the closest thing to perfection to me.

Congratulations to the OP for picking this great piece.

Big congrats on your pick up
Could it be that the dial is 1mm larger is because of the new 3235 movement?

Picked this up, ordered yesterday and arrived today from DavidSW. Thanks David.

Finally a Rolex in a size I like. Love almost everything about it. I love the red lettering of Sea Dweller. Miss the dial AR of my Omegas but no doubt this will be more durable without the outer AR.

I love my Omegas and I am still an Omega guy but this thing is a beauty.

Here it is next to my Speedmaster Moonphase which is a 44.25mm watch but next to the Rolex you can see how small the big Speedmasters wear for their size.

I also have to admit I’m just old enough to need reading glasses and the cyclops date is a welcomed addition in my book.

Just for another comparison here it is next the Ti PO in 45.5mm. Still holds its own.

Thanks for all the great information on this site.
Congratuations a lovely addition to your growing collection -

Knowing Rolex they used the same dial thats in the 40mm case and just made the case and bezel bigger. I too would like more inside dial since Im older and like to see the time.

Its a great 1st Rolex..............enjoy. David is the man!

Fantastic choice, that is one watch for life, if the size is right, it may be all you need. Enjoy that beast. Sorry to say this, but I predict less wrist time for those Omegas.
