I can understand one person being stupid and grilling indoors. But, 28 people in the house and NOBODY thought that it wasn't a good idea?????

I haven't used charcoal since the 80's but if my memory serves me correctly, I think it says right on the bag, not to be used indoors.

Some people never learn.

Could be worse. Could have been deep frying a frozen turkey and burned the house down (there’s a video of that somewhere).

No, you haven't.

I worked at the Jeddah, Saudi Arabia airport. During the "Haj", pilgrimage to Mecca, thousands of flights come in from all over the world, mostly poorer third world countries where the passengers have probably never been in any kind of motorized vehicle before, much less an airplane.
A flight came in on fire. Turns out some of the passengers were bar-b-queing a sheep in the aisle while airborne. Plane landed safely, but blazing away. Fire and rescue teams would not go to put out the fire because they had not gotten permission from the governor of the province to do their job and no one wanted to take responsibility for that. By the time they reached the Prince in charge, plane was burned up.
More than 200 pilgrims burned to death.

When was this? The FAA has a report of a fire in a plane in Riyadh that was originally heading to Jeddah in 1980. Over 200 died, but it was due to a fire in the cargo area, not barbequeing sheep.

Flight 163? The wiki version has a cargo fire 7 minutes into the flight and the emergency crews struggling to get the doors open. Is the FAA version similar?

This was in the early 80s. Not all these embarrassing incidents get publicized for obvious reasons.

This is the result when no one is teaching you about these things growing up AND you're not very bright to begin with.

But you'd be surprised (or maybe you wouldn't lol) how common this can be.

Immediately following hurricane Sandy, my buddy who's on the job here on LI, was called to many houses for incidents of people using BBQs inside the house. One guy went into a coma cause when he passed out, he smashed his head open.

Some people grill in the basement...

You must be an ER doc or a PI lawyer. I’m formerly the later and never amazed by people’s stupidity.

Some people grill their Rolex in their basement swimming pool. It takes all sorts to make the world go ‘round.
