I have a couple of submariners, here's some of them I've taken pictures of lately
Submariners are really great classics!

Not posting my 1680 Red out of protest. I'll make sure to let you know when we do a thread entitled, "Submariners: Plexi only".

I fear you have missed EC1's point...

He doesn't object to the clyclops per say, but to the date complication...

What many seem to be missing in the OP is that this is the SUBMARINER thread, not the SUBMARINER-DATE thread!

No, you missed -my- point, which was twofold:

-I don't like the exclusive nature of this thread as it's not in keeping with the general accepting atmosphere here

-If he's going to list what he excludes, he should be thorough. Just saying "no cyclops" is not adequate and is either careless or a sign that further study is required.

I apologize if my OP was confusing or misleading in any way. I further apologize if you felt my OP was exclusive in nature.

Though it seems many different models have their respective "Owner's Club" thread and I thought it would be nice to have a Submariner one as well.

I could be wrong, so please correct me if I am - but only Rolex models without a date are technically a true, Submariner. With the presence of a date, it now becomes a Submariner Date. I understand your fusration regarding dates and no cyclops, however with respect to a Submariner - wouldn't this only come up on a customized piece? (although still technically being a Submariner Date?).

Nonetheless, I specified this was a Submariner thread - not a a Submariner Date thread. This was indicated in my OP. I only later made the joke regarding the cyclops. Actually, in my OP - I even specify the models in which I consider relevant here (and in essence, hopefully thorough enough for your standards). I did not just post, "no cyclops," as you specify. Adequate enough?

I never "listed" what shall be excluded per say, this is an open forum and everyone is free to post. I just intended on starting a Submariner Owner's Thread, opening a spot for people who own an actual Submariner (without a date function, if that helps specify further) to post pictures and converse accordingly.

If you disagree with the "exclusive" nature of this thread, then again - I apologize...but then do you also have a problem with every other Owner's Thread here on TRF? I certainly wouldn't be welcome posting my 14060M in the 16610LV Owner's Thread...and...honestly, I think I'm okay with that.

Cheers,

Thanks for the note. I am not going to be a jerk about this, as there are lots of threads like this as you say. Some of the responses did get under my skin though.

FWIW, back when those older watches were sold you could choose to order one with the non-cyclops crystal. Certainty by now most any vintage with that crystal would have been done after the fact, but it was a Rolex sanctioned combo nonetheless.

I love the subs. The only thing I don't like is they have the most knock offs, so it seems like I always get an inquisitive eye when someone looks at my watch. I feel like I should carry around my warranty card and appraisal.

Only because they are the most popular, iconic watch of all time...!

I agree.

No pics, but my first sub was the two tone band with champagne bezel and blue dial. Earlier this year I upgraded to the two tone band with black dial and bezel. It is gorgeous. I love it, but I first myself more self-conscious wearing it because it sticks out more. I may go back to the champagne/blue. Tough decision, because nothing looks better with a tux than the black on black.

One of my favorite Rolexes of all time. I love the simplicity and the symmetry of the dial.
