Rumour As Question: Is Rolex Pulling Out of Formula 1?

Please take this with a grain salt. Apparently, Rolex Executives are quite angry with the new owners of the Formula One Group. It is rumoured, Rolex will not renew any sponsorship with F1 when the contract terminates.

One reason is that Rolex is angry that a certain Dutch brewing company has been infiltrating Rolex's product placement and that Rolex does not want to be associated with a beer company and all that it suggests.

My source? Formula 1 season opens here in my neck of the woods and a few Rolex Executives are around.

Once again, this is pure speculation but watch this space.

Wouldn’t be surprised. These new engines are not interesting at all. Ferrari leaves and I think Formula 1 is done

As a Ferrari owner, "F!" Ferrari. They will not survive if they continue to throw their weight around and think there is no consequence. At the race track or in the consumer market.

✓ My country, Malaysia has hosted her final Formula 1 Grand Prix 2017 due to declining ticket sales, rising costs (Damn! those tickets are really expensive), falling viewership and F1 tourism. The Malaysian government has bankrolled the event since its inception in 1999 and did you know it costs US $70 million to stage the Malaysian race each year ?

✓ F1 worldwide TV audience is also dropping
✓ Ferrari & Mercedes are threatening to bring the chequered flag down because of Liberty's plan to cut the combined prize money bonuses they receive every year and to introduce a budget cap that will level the playing field and prevent the top guns from spending to gain unfair advantage
Oh Well, I can always increase the viewership of my F1 posts anyway.....

Wouldn’t be surpising, many forms of auto racing are currently suffering. The equalization of all cars, creates continuous round and round boredom.

When v10’s were gone, my interest cut in half....when Schumi was out, minus another 25%, and the final straw we’re the tiny displacement turbos that sound like weedeaters. I can hear that garbage from every civic with exhaust.... No thanks

I’m so over F1. Tiny 4 cylinder turbo engines. No sound, no emotion anymore. It’s been dead for a while. It will continue to decline.

Interesting theory. It was a Bernie deal anyway.

But I doubt the new owners would care. Any watchmaker would take the deal in Rolexeses place. They're also taking F1 in a new direction and Tudor would fit better than Rolex.

It's a shame, Sepang was one of my favorite tracks.
