Perpetual Opinions 5320 vs 5270

I have generally not been a big fan of Perpetual calendars but have been draw to the PP 5320 and 5270. In terms of Patek pieces I have the 5960 steel, 5712 steel, 5990 and 5164.

I am a fan of chronos and that is one reason I am drawn to the 5270. I do like the 5270P salmon dial with the added numerals but also like the older style-- with the silver (not white) dial or the blue dial. If they were all similar in price would probably go with the P version based on the dial. Because the older versions come in a close second the price differential has to factored into the equation.

THe 5320 has a simple dial and because it is automatic could use a winder to keep it running in between wrist time. Again it is quite a bit less money as well.

Have any others out there considered one or the other? General thoughts?

I would say there is a large difference between a PC and a PCC in terms of complications. Even between a ACC (e.g. 5960) and a PCC, there is a significant difference. I would highly recommend a PCC if you can. The 5270 has a great movement, all visible through the caseback. Automatic movement hides a large part of the movement due to its rotor.

You can pop the 5270 on a winder if you really need to.

Frankly, these watches are not comparable at all. Manual v. Automatic, X v. 2X in price and PC v. PCC.

If this is an option, then this is the answer.

A comparison is in the eye of the person who is considering one or the other :)

I stopped using winders a long time ago... Guess that isn't a big issue either way.. The manual winders are more complicated
