Don't touch that dial !!

planning to get my 1680 Red serviced by RSC London, anyone had previous experience with this as i obviously don't want the dial, hands, bezel or insert swapped out nor do i want it polished.......i'm assuming a movement only service will be fine & they won't insist on any swaps...any help ?

Rolex traditionally want to bring any watch you send in for service up to current standards....They want the dial to "glow" the case to "shine"......etc....

Make sure you tell them EXACTLY what it is you want and don't want done......

Then keep your fingers crossed and hope that they listen.....

If they recommend a replacement of a part (dial, hands, etc.), it is your choice to decline.

They will not do a service, you are not willing to pay.

On the other hand, they could also decline servicing the watch.

Chad, as mentioned the dial/hands are vital to value. Servicing the movement is of course the main thing as is anything that will maintain the WR resistence--seals, crown, tube, etc...

I'm not up to speed on RSC London's policies, but if the dial is at risk seek a good independent.

cheers guys, just back from St James Sq. my initial receipt clearly states: 'please estimate to service. note head only. please do not change dial, hands, bezel insert. lightly refurbish case' also makes note of the dial having red submariner writing all signed by rolex assistant.....plus nothing will be done till i get an estimate anyhow so hopefully that'll cover it.., they did quote 12 - 16 weeks though, something about Bexley being moved to somewhere else..

I wouldn't have let them touch the case at all in terms of polishing if it was me. "Light refurbish case" they might put that chamfer on the edge of the lugs, some like it but I have to say I am not such a fan of that effect.

I am with Steve--don't polish case at all--just clean it. The marks on the case are the badges of honor over the years of service! Leave them alone.....

Yes, tell them "don't touch that case!"
