Power Reserve on Manual Wind-Wearing vs. Not
May be an ignorant question, but will a manual wind watch stop running sooner when not wearing vs. wearing? I should know - but don't! - whether wrist movement powers a manual wind as it does an automatic...
Also, how much time should i be getting between windings on a 6265 (Valjoux 727 movement)? Thanks! |

When I wear mine-I wind them in the morning each day. You can get a few days out but I always do first thing in morning!!

Ken, are you having to reset the time each morning as well? Mine's not making it through the night! Is a low reserve a problem?

That's what I thought, that manual winds are all about the winds providing power, while the automatics keep going from wrist movement. But my manual has been stopping sooner than expected, so just wanted to make sure taking it off wasn't contributing...

Maybe you don't wind it enough in the morning?

Are you winding it all the way?? You will know when it is time to stop! I have never let it go--always wind it each morning so truly have no idea how long it will go before it needs rewound---same on all of my vintage Daytonas.

Well, there's your problem.
Just wind it more and if that doesn't cure it you have a mainspring problem. |

Yep---no question. Wind it till it if fully wound-then back it off a turn.
