This is interesting and hopeful, but at times, it is difficult to differentiate between a persistent vegetative state (with awake and sleeping periods, eye movements and the ability to swallow) and consciousness. Hoping for the best. It sounds like once he is released to his home medical unit, reports on his progress, or lack of it, will cease.

As for Schumacher's long-term care, she (Schumacher's manager) stated that if he was moved to a rehabilitation clinic, his health and progress would become a "private matter" and the family would not release any updates.

I think this would be much bigger news if Schumacher was making a good recovery. My educated guess is that he is in a persistent vegetative state. Hoping for the best, but after six months, not expecting it.

There won't be regular updates since spokesperson said, "For the future we ask for understanding that his further rehabilitation will take place away from the public eye..."

As doctors have said, this will be a long road. If his trauma affected speech or vision centers the road could be years in length.

But hoping for recovery for him

According to this article, Schumi's is paralyzed but can communicate with his family by moving his eyelids. That is certainly progress.
