Grand Seiko GMT?

I was wondering does anyone here own, seen, or know of the Grand Seiko GMT? I was just wondering what are your thoughts about this watch.

I like Seiko watches and this one is beautiful too!! Spring drive is a new-ish patented technology by Seiko it is meant to be a breakthrough one too!

I always thought that for the price I would pay for this Seiko, it would probably be better to pick up a Sub Date. What do you guys think?

I have no idea what these cost, but see Grand Seiko's at high prices when visiting Japan. How much does this go for. Nice looking watch.

I don't own one, but I am very impressed with the quality. My suspicion is you could get a reasonable discount on one.

Grand Seiko's are pricey especially when you think of it "it's a seiko!"

They make very good watches and the "Grand" brand is their higher-end products or movements.

It just a matter of you wanting Swiss or Japanese.

I think these are the pictures of the new one. The thread is in Chinese though.

They are very nice watches, well made, which is to be expected from Japanese.

I have to Agree. It is a great watch. But at that price I would have to go with Rolex

It's cool, but overpriced into Rolex territory. I'd take the Rolex every time.

Spring Drive vs. Rolex GMT, I would take the Seiko.

It is more accurate, is very aesthetically pleasing, has better lume, and the motion of the hands is just too damn cool.

There is nothing between the two watches that makes the Rolex better, just the fact that it is a pure mechanical watch.

I love this watch and a lot of the other Grand Seiko Sports Watches. At 43mm+ I bet it's got a lot of wrist presence.

What's the resale like on these?

I had not seen a Grand that was Spring Drive....I would guess they are 6K plus!

Resale values are horrible here in Asia, but that is almost true for any other steel watches, besides Rolex SS watches or PP SS watches.

Seiko has a pretty impressive history as well which dates back to the late 1800's - i.e. before Rolex! I believe they've been responsible for a number of firsts in the watch industry (including the Spring Drive movement).

Yup. They are the first in Spring Drive movement (That's what I've read). Maybe Rolex will one day jump on to that.

Then this says a lot when you consider that only the Patek Philippe and Rolex watches keep their value. I would go with the Rolex any day of the week.

I do like the Seiko Spring Drives and Grand Seikos but, they would have to go way down in price to get my hard earned money.

Grand Seiko SBGL017 is on the top of my wish list (right after my second Rolex). I already purchased the buckle to put it on a leather strap. You just can't imagine the quality of it.







The SBGL 017 is sold by Seiya for 3700$ (shipping included)

a SBGM003 GMT for 3588$ my money will for SURE go into one of those.

In house mouvement. All hand made in a special workshop where only 21 top watchmakers work.

Over COSC norms (6 degrees, 6 positions -3 /+5 max)

Amazing quality

Real WIS' watch

Very awesome, yea I’ve wanted a Grand Seiko. But now I have second thoughts after seeing the price. They look stunning and something that I believe not everyone has. Resale value might be a little bit on the bad side, so I’m thinking of maybe just getting a used one will be good enough. How do you like your GS?

I believe they are the kind of watch that are not to be re-sold. You can make fairly good deal on the pre-loved market.

I am thorn between the SBGM009 GMT and the SBGM017. I was about to buy one before my GMT II but then i got an opportunity to get a 3186 GMT II... so here i am lol But i will sure have one soon or later

I'm just wondering how some can say it's not worth the money without seeing one in person. I've heard they are stunning in both looks and quality.
