PAM 184 and 242
I do not know a whole lot about Panerai and have been doing some research on the brand. While doing my research, I see that at least the 184 and 242 have a JLC movement. What are the thoughts on the JLC movement? Will the limited number of timepieces with this movement, OPXIII I think, make them more collectible or more valuable?

I'm a HUGE JLC fan. IMO no brand mass manufactures complicated movements better than JLC. They're often referred to as the "watchmaker's watchmaker" because they've supplied so many movements to other brands. In fact, I believe they're on record as having the most in-house movements of any manufacture. So the JLC movements in the 184/242 will hold up very well.
Having said that, those particular models have never been very popular amongst the 'Risti. As such I doubt they'll ever be collectible. If I had to bank on a collectible Panerai with JLC movement, it'd be the 190. |

I don't know if its founded or not, but for some reason, when I see a Panerai with a JLC movement I mentally feel like it is somehow a "better" watch. Not that there is anything wrong with ETA powered panerai.

190 is the way to go here.

JLC makes a great movement for sure. as far as panerai goes, though, pedigree of movement isn't "everything", as most would say fans would say that a 184 or a 242 aren't very good representations of the brand. that being said, i'm sure they are great watches. |

The problem with the 184 and 242 is the dial IMHO. I've handled both and the dial doesn't draw you in. Also the 24hr GMT hand is locked in (can't set independently) and you must you the internal bezel to adjust the second time zone.
190 is the JLC movement you want! ;-)
