Very Limited Edition

Hello Breitling fans - first time posting on this section and first post for some time.

OK here we go, I was just presented with this watch by a friend of a friend who knows I am a watch nut - I don't know an awful lot about the brand full stop but could not resist seeing something quite so rare, apparently number 4 of only 5 watches in existance. According to its' owner he has contacted Brietling and had the watch authenticated, he does know who owned the watch before him but I will keep that to myself.......so, what do you think?.....any comments welcome.......it's not my thing but it's certainly very impressive...

I literally have never clicked on the Breitling section of the forum...aaaand now I know why...I can appreciate the rarity of such a piece but man is that uh..lets keep it nice and just say 'over the top'..but at the same time...you'll look damn good getting saved if you need to use the emergency function...

The great thing about the watch:
You can call in the emergency rescue service and payback all the costs S&R costs with the same time piece!

Thanks for sharing. Definitely a rarity - and we can each have our own opinions as to why it is so rare.

Not my favorite bezel but it does work. Position the bezel N half way between 12 and the hour hand and aim at the sun.

Obviously you have to reposition if your bearing changes. And if the beacon is out of batteries you can use the bezel and watch as a sun signal.

As I recall they also made a few that were just 18K gold.

Wow, didn't know that either. I always felt the Breitling Emergency was a cool watch but knew very little about them. I like Breitling watches but sadly Rolex and Omega always seem to win me over

All 18K Emergency watches are made to order. I have number 25.

Cheers, Sarah

I have an 18K Emergency and this one looks like a bad fake. Because of the Emergency beacon capability each Emergency watch is registered at Breitling with the owners name and details, making the watch traceable. Real Emergency watches also have an FCC ID number on the back. The back of my watch is completely different from the one shown. Unless you have a verifiable written document from Breitling stating it is authentic I'd run from it as fast as I could.

HTH, Sarah

Wow Sarah, just saw your reply, I hadn't checked this thread for a while. I must state this is not my watch, it was shown to me purely because a friend of the owner works with me and knew I was a watch nut. The story the guy gave me seemed very believable, the watch felt very heavy and looked a lot better in person than it does in my poor phone camera pictures. Do you have number 25 of the same model because obviously this one states there were only 5 made (with this actual watch being number 4)?

you do not need emergency beacon, people can spot the watch from any distance and in any situation

Well considering it is missing the FCC ID number I would not think it is authentic (however, I am not an expert!!!)

Seems highly unlikely a model would be released missing this information as well as other key markings.

I will just add, that I have since seen another 18k model without the FCC ID number which I still find incredibly odd.

However the hole at the secondary antenna on the case size is wrong. That isn't standard.

Yes, I have number 25. A friend of mine had # 23 because it was Michael Jordan's jersey number. Last I heard, a few years ago, was Breitling was up to #28 for the 18K Gold Emergencies. Remember they are all made to order. It took 2+ months to get mine from date of order to delivery. I've worn mine into jewelry stores in Tyson's Corner VA and no one working there had even seen one.

I haven't used my online picture hosting account for a long time but if you'd like I can take some pictures of mine and post them for you. Just let me know. You can also email me at ninety7gt@cox.net to nag me if I forget. :)

Cheers, Sarah

I find it odd as well since each watch is registered with the FCC. You should see the paperwork you have to submit when you buy any Emergency watch.

Here's what this is supposed to look like:

The OP's friend's watch looks very different and pretty aftermarket/handmade.
