For Speedy Fans (60 Years Content)

I just came across a couple fun things this morning while having my coffee.

First, Robert Jan over at Fratellowatches blog just put up a really good overview of 60yrs of the Speedmaster. It gives a great picture and brief description of the various iterations and how they came to be.

The second item of note: Hodinkee will be live streaming at 7pm ET tonight with Omega. Here is a quote from their description of tonight's event-

Quote:
Tonight, HODINKEE and Omega come together to bring you live coverage of our celebration of 60 years of the Omega Speedmaster. In the first discussion of the evening, members of the HODINKEE editorial team will be joined by Omega Museum Curator Petros Protopapas to explore the legacy and evolution of the Speedmaster; in the second, we'll be joined Omega President and CEO Raynald Aeschilmann to examine the impact of the Speedmaster line on the Omega brand as well as what we can expect from Omega in the future.
The Fratello article is great and well worth a read for any Speedy fan. The stream tonight, I imagine, will be pretty fun to watch. Not sure if we'll get any kind of an upcoming preview or not of what may be behind the curtain at Basel?

Either way, I thought I would share with my fellow Omega/Speedy fans.

Cheers!

Sadly, I'm on the west coast here. However, I would love to hear your experiences and impressions from the event!

Really impressed with Omega, even more than before. They are very into their consumers and fans engaging with the brand.

We also saw some upcoming releases, although no pics allowed.

I think I may have provided the lighting for this Alaska Project shot!!

Nice event, great to see some of the museum pieces. I can't say I was overly impressed with the Basel models, strangely I like the ladies model best.

Rumor is that the Basel model is a rose gold coaxial Speedmaster. Is that true? Surprising they wouldn't release a LE pro specific for 60, but maybe it was too much with the speedy Tuesday having been announced so close to Basel.

Thank you very much for showing us some live pics from the event. Having the stream cut off, knowing the new releases were waiting upstairs for everyone, was painful!

Highly doubt it, the cat's just not out of the bag yet.

Yes, unless my memory is playing tricks we me there was a rose gold speedmaster with blue dial and blue ceramic bezel.

Someone else will have more specific details, I wasn't that focused on the new models as none were appealing to me. Besides, there was a whole lot of vintage goodness there which I will likely never see again!

Anyone at the event recall seeing a Gene Cernan Le?

Here are some pics of the leather nato strap from the Omega/Hodinkee event a few months ago. I've only worn this a few times but decided to switch it up.
