70's 5513 or 1680?
Greetings folks !
Looking to buy my first vintage Rolex and would like to ask for your advice: In the same condition, from a pure dollar/price standpoint, is the price of a 70's 5513 the same as the 1680? Cheers, G. |

I take it you are talking about a 1680 white v 5513? The white is much cheaper than the red 1680, although you will often see more red 1680s for sale, I'm not sure why this is.
Price comparison is always difficult as advertised prices are not usually the selling price. Do you go date or non date? If i was you i would decide on this and then get the best one you can. |

Thanks a lot! Yes, sorry did not specify: The white 1680. I would like to hear people experiences and have a handling if they cost the same or not. Already own a SD and like the date, but will not mind a nice 5513 at all. All I am trying to figure out is if they 1680 and 5513 are worth the same or not. I understand at the end it is a personal preference, but would love to hear comments here price wise. Cheers, G. |

I believe the 5513 to be a better value currently.

Ok I see, you know I can't help you price wise with the US market but I'm sure others will.
Happy hunting as both are great watches. |

With the exception of later 70's maxi plot dials, both 5513 and 1680 white references appear to be priced similar. A slight edge to a 5513 in price however.

I think in general, the price for 5513s have surged slightly higher than white 1680s, depends on condition of course. Can't really tie this to anything and may just be a current trend.

I would think they are similarly priced, on average, but it's all down to condition and originality, of course. An immaculate, original example of either reference will far out-price a poor one.

While 5513's are slightly higher I still largely prefer a white 1680. I recently sold my meters first 5513 to fund my 1675 purchase and later a white 1680, no regrets! Buy what you like is my suggestion, in the end you'll wind up with it anyhow and might even save yourself some money by following your gut.

A matte dial 5513 runs probably about $1000 more than a 1680 in similar condition/characteristics as of late, I think. You can find a great, honest white 1680 for between $5000-6000 without too much work. You'll have a hard time finding a good matte dial 5513 in that range, based on my recent searches. YMMV.

My personal preference- I must have the date on my watch..., Still, you can't go wrong with either... Good luck

yes 5513 is surging. It could happen to 1680 too. buy them while they're still affordable.

For clean original watches in top condition with perfect dials the 5513 has edged out the 1680 by about 2.5k in the US market. For a similar condition 5512, add another 2k.

I have seen 1680's in the $8k range and $9k when with original papers.
