5513 Bezel insert
My bezel insert on my 1966 5513 is green in colour, is that the correct colour?
Thanks |

What are super luminova's? I have owned the watch for over 30 years but never worn it and recently found this forum so pulled it out of the safe and discovered that my 5513 seemed to be different to others on here, so I was hoping someone could enlighten me....

super luminova is the newer material name for the lumi in the hands and on the dial.
your hands look "bright" in scan. I would not worry about it since you have had and know the history. Probably natural changes in material and shows up in the lighting. If never serviced you may consider a movement service if you intend to wear and be around water. If not sell it as is. m |

The dial is wrong for a 1966 sub...should be meters first...
The hands look re-lumed; pretty easy to replace and make it look good... Please give us the serial number; your reference sheet could be way off...

All things considered, get a nice set of replacement hands that match the dial patina, and enjoy your watch for what it is !!

My 1967 5513 glows very briefly when exposed to bright light. During the day the dial, hands and pearl tend to look green at times. This is typical for a specific serial number range.
Do you have the watch? Is it always green or just occasionally? In either case, the dial does not match. |

Given that the dial has been swapped probably from previous service, maybe the hands n the pearl had been tampered with. Here is a pic of different color of pearls for comparison. The top one is luminova which looks greenish, the other 2 r tritium from different era. Your pearl looks distinctively different.
