I'm glad you asked. Mine is set to show three times: GMT, the city that I'm from, and the city where I live. When I'm found dead in an alley somewhere, I want the CSIs to have something to think about.

Other than that, since my arrow hand is set to GMT, I use the GMT function to see what time it is in England. I don't know why I think I need to know what time it is in England, but I do. This won't help you much if you are in England. Where they invented GMT time. Give or take a few seconds.

I leave the 24hr hand set to home time, and when I travel, I adjust the hour hand to local time.

Like others - I keep the GMT hand to my home time (CET) and then move the hour hand unless going to India when I use the bezel for the 4 1/2 hour time difference.

Trying to read both a 12 hour time and a 24 hour time scale on the same watch just does not work for me unless I really look at the watch and think about it. By that time I have already figured home time in my head by looking at local time. In general I ignore the GMT hand. (I could see how this would be useful for a pilot, but since I am not - not useful.)

Only in the Northern Hemisphere and north of the tropic of cancer. Which probably for 95% of us we will never be south of that line. If you are in the southern hemisphere and south of the Tropic of Capricorn the GMT hand will point south. Between the tropics of Cancer and Capricorn its gets complicated.

Like many here, 24hr hand set to UTC, 12hr hands set to local, rotate the bezel to indicate home time. When I am not traveling, I don't seem to notice the 24hr hand.

I'm a pilot and use my GMT for its intended purpose every week.

Even though I live about a mile from the Greenwich Meridian here in the UK, when I fly to differing time zones, I usually only rotate the bezel so that the GMT hand points to local time wherever I'm at, because my 'home' time is either GMT anyways if its winter, or one hour ahead of GMT if its summer time.

The less I unscrew the crown the better, hence the way I use the watch.

I still think all GMT's should ship with a red GMT hand however, even though I've grown to like the green hand on mine.

I'm a corporate pilot & fly internationally. I have the 24hr hand set to GMT and set the hour hand to local time.

I agree with GMT Aviator, the 24hr hand should be red. I have a BLNR and the blue hand is not enough contrast with the black dial, especially in low light conditions. I imagine the green is similar? Also, it seems like whenever I look for the 24hr hand it is hidden under the minute hand.

I usually set my GMT hand to my time zone, 24 hour time.

On my GMT Master II, I used to set it to GMT time because of convention, but it just wasn't particularly useful to me.

My GMT Master II is my traveling watch so what I usually do is keep the 24 hand on my home time, and move the hour hand to local time. Useful.

I set the GMT hand to my home time on the Explorer II. Not very useful but I think it looks sharp.

Default mode - bezel straight up and both hands synched to home time.

Travel - 12 hour hand to local time, bezel straight up and the 24 hour hand continues to read the time at home. If I need a third time I turn the bezel the appropriate offset to home time.

Most other uses - tracking other time zones for phone calls, the start of an event in another location, tracking the time where family or friends are, just turn the bezel to track those times.

Never use GMT functions, never use my Sub bezel, Daytona.... well! The date is never correct on the DJ or the GMT and I tend to look at my iPhone for the time.

I just love Rolex though.

I use the GMT hand to verify that the hour hand is on time. Works out great and I don't need to wear a second watch for cross verification or need to pull out my phone. Love it.

Since I have family on the West coast and I'm on the East coast, I leave the GMT hand on Pacific time unless I'm traveling.

I'm a very basic user. We do travel often but I always leave the 24 hour hand on home time and jump the hour hand to local time. Just like my brain, I'm probably using 10% of my watch's total potential.

As I pilot, I use the GMT function as designed and find it works very well. I could pull the same data electronically from other instruments but a quick flip of the wrist and I've got it.

You can use Sub bezel for GMT function as well. Align bezelpip as "12" for new time zone. Then read second time zone from there :)
10=2, 20=4, 30=6, 40=8 etc.. (x2)

Using it to time my steaks on the grill. I put the 24 hour indicator to the minute hand to keep track of when I started and since steak doesn't need to be cooked for a whole hour. This works for me. Also use it during travel and keep of a second time zone.

I usually do business with countries other than the places I live.. So mines set on west coast and another on UAE, and I use the bezel for counties thats I am doing business with.

In addition to everything already said. One great thing is moving hour hand up and down for daylight savings time. So easy with the jumping hour hand.

I travel weekly with my job across the USA .
Through all time zones most of the time!!!
GMT hand is set to home TZ and hour jump hand
is set to local time zone where I'm at at that time.
Bezel I use for appointments as most are in military
time ... I believe the way it was intended to be used ...

Setting my 24-hour hand to UTC, the bezel easily indicates local time in other timezones when you know the GMT offsets.

But the GMT functionality is I think better suited for traveling than staying in one spot and checking other timezones. A world time watch would be better for that purpose.

Lot of friends and family in Japan I talk with regularly....so 24hr GMT hand always on Japan time and normal hands = local. I never touch the bezel since I never had the need for a 3rd time zone even when travelling....for me it just seems too complicated by then.

I keep the GMT hand set to UTC+1, where I have a lot of co-workers. When I travel, I move the hour hand to local time and adjust the bezel to represent home time.
