Submariner 16808 1981-2

This has more than doubled if not tripled in value since I got it some years ago. At that time the 16818 were out and no one wanted a 16808 so I got it at a great price.

This dial has the SWISS -T<25 at the bottom.

This is a seven million series serial number, from 1981-2.

I've always loved the 1680/8 black nipple dial. Georgeous watch. Enjoy your 16808

Thanks. It's interesting how at one point it seems like all we want is the "latest and greatest" and then after a while vintage seems like the thing!

One awesome watch! If one can have more than one Grail, this is one of mine. Cheers!

Methinks at 7 mil that watch should have a nipple dial.

Yes I remember at the time my Rolex watch importer (not from whom I bought it, just a large volume importer friend of mine who used to stock many dozens of watches at a time in the downtown jewelry mart) was telling me how "at least you got the new dial, and the box" which didn't really mean much to me then I didn't know what he was talking about. New is relative today though as it is tritium.
