5980 1r rose gold

Contemplating buying this watch. Can you share with me your thoughts on this watch pros@cons, I have a gold Rolex, wondering if I'd really like the rose gold.

Thoughts?
Thanks,
George

Let's start to pile up the "go purchase it" votes

Here's number 3!

This Nautilus is stunning. The 5980 is my favorite Nautilus and this variation has everything you could want -

Rose Gold Beauty
Rose Gold Weight
Rose Gold Wrist presence

5980 Heft
5980 Chrono
Dial combo on the Rose Gold is incredible!

Time to Buy

Whereas the Rolex Day Date looks a bit gaudy in my opinion and has a lot of bling, the 5980 is subtle, stylish and spectacular. Buy it.

But what else do you expect to hear from a bunch of Patek fanatics.

5980-1R for me is the ultimate Nautilus and one of my grail PP. Definitely go for it!

Here's an enabling pic from IG ( not mine ).

it's a beautiful watch , a lot of good things. And believe me all of us will enable you, but is also true that for this kind of money you are getting in another bracket of watches that might be better choices than this one. But at the end we buy what we love not everybody is into complications

Cheers !! and please post pics of that beauty if you buy

It's gorgeous but have to admit I've debated selling mine a few times...it's super blingy...so if you are into that then it's great...but I find the wrist time is limited for me.

5980 1r rose gold

Let's just say I was originally not a fan of the Nautilus and the 5980r/1r completely changed my mind!

Some more enabling.

I guess I am on the other side of the fence on this one. I have owned it twice and won't buy it again.

I found it to be top heavy, had trouble getting it to fit right, and as a result found it to get in the way.

For me, it's one of those watches that you have to have in pictures, and then it let's you down. Not going to be the case for everyone.

My favorite PP sports model watch. I believe is the best nautilus money can buy.

If you got the funds. What are you waiting for.

I have both the DD and the 5980-1r. I chose the Patek because it was rose gold, just to be a little different from the Rolex. It is the detailing and see-thru caseback that sold me on the watch. It also has a little more subtle elegance than the DD.

Man guys,

Do I give this one a third shot?

I guess three strikes and you are out?

Thoughts?

Love the 5980 in RG and having seen the 5980 1r in person on a few occasions I can say this is a very beautiful, serious & significant piece. This thing really stands out and for all the right reasons.

Even though I swore to only purchase Nautilus watches with bracelet I'm leaning toward the 5980 RG on leather strap. Price for me is a consideration and also trying to compliment current collection.

It's a Patek for modern times I suppose:

Big, chunky, inelegant and ostentatious so totally out of line with classic Patek values. Perfect for instagram though, if you like that sort of thing.

P.S. The 5711r is a totally different watch though. Slim, well fitting and elegant.

The 'out of line and values' are my favorite Patek's

It's a beautiful watch but too blingy for me. Someting about all gold sports (excluding WG) watches just don't do it for me. I'd rather buy it in SS, save the extra cash and buy a 5711 also!

John I agree with you there, I flipped my 5980R on strap for very similar reasons, was great in pics on IG stunning looking on the wrist but not a watch that sat comfy on my wrist..

The 5711/1R has pretty much the same brown dial as the 5980R and is also on bracelet.

Exactly, I find it looks amazing, but if I had it I really don't know when I would and could wear it, too blingy for me, I prefer more discrete watches, but it does look amazing

This thread is making me drool! I do have a question for those who own one. Strap or bracelet? What were you reasons? and preferences for those that don't own one.
