Good to have clarity from the mothership that the warranty follows the watch for 2 years. Now we just need a longer warranty period - how about tacking on another year for starters?

So much hysteria in this thread over something that was obvious and verified very early on in the discussion.

Because there is a disconnect between the mothership and NYC.

Perfect--thank you.

Having something in writing is the only way to get through the red tape in the time of need. Saying a forum member said so isn't going to mean anything to Patek.

Something in writing actually has relevance to solving an issue. People in the US now have something to actually REFERENCE if/when they are questioned about their warranty service and are not original owner (which was the point the whole time).

Ok, everyone now (globally) has the green light to start buying pp again.
Oh wait, can we start a thread to make them improve on their after sales service. Yeah, let's do that.

This thread was super helpful and it seems a bunch of random watch nuts across the globe can make some noise with the proper people.

Because to some it's perfectly acceptable to brazenly publish name and contact numbers of friends / contacts across the internet without their prior permission. Email correspondence between me and PP were people specific and thus I would guess they expect a degree of confidentiality. Unless of course you tell them upfront you are going to publish. In that case I doubt they would have explained their position in social media, the trials and tribulations. That I didn't publish! Guess things work differently in various parts of the world! And then of course I just don't believe you!!

Let us know as you're the only one here actually dealing with HSWA on this issue in real time on an actual warranty case.

Please let us know how it will turn out. I would be surprised if they did not honor the warranty.

Very true Karl.. I wouldn't disclose the identity of a friend on here especially in this discussion where im I happy with info I was given directly from the home of Patek Philippe.

I got my first two Pateks from grey dealers but new and each had the papers under someone's name from an AD, they can't sell without. In any case warranty or not since I am getting them from an AD with no intention to sell or if I do it will be long after warranty expired, I don't feel very concerned if ever the warranty didn't work, in worse case it would take off one service off the price, but since we know it follows the product then HSWA is not respecting Patek policy

Informative thread. Thanks for all the contributions.

A point I would add is that with the secondary market often showing steep discounts ~30-40%, even if the warranty for any reason did not follow, it would have to be a doozy of a service issue to make the secondary market price unpalatable.

Received a letter from HSWA stating that my watch is in its final stage of quality control testing, it should be ready in about a week. It didn't take as long as I thought for the repair it only took about about 5 weeks. Hope to get it back by next week...

Spoke with HSWA this morning. HSWA said that they ended up doing a complete overhaul on the watch. The watch should be ready in about two weeks.

Wow! Can't believe NYC tried to pull this crap! Unless the emails were falsified it does make Pat look pretty bad (or whomever Pat's boss was/is that directed him)for sure.

I was actually starting to worry about purchasing a LNIB 5711/1r but all has ended well. Now let's just hope we can start using the word "weeks" in the same sentence a PP service. They are at least trying to improve that here in the US.
