I'm diggin it. I think I would go no date sub first for my collection but the new Air King is a very appealing piece.

A handsome watch. Perhaps not as iconic as the Explorer but definitely a worthy challenger.

I like it apart from the Air King in italiks. It cheapens the watch in MHO and makes it look a bit toyish.

I really like the new AK. The dial reminds me of a speedo.

What's your take on the new Air King?

Seems thick in the Milgauss case. I wish it was in the Explorer 1 case instead. I would look to buy it but it is a bit chunky to me, I guess it appeals to the young!

I think it's a really nice watch but agree don't like the 3,6,9 on the dial also don't like watches with out crown guards, hasn't put me off a few watches in the past.

Yep, 3,6,9 in WG puts me off that watch. The rest of it I really like

Cool watch with a different look. I'd prefer lumed 3,6, 9 though.

I really disliked it at first but it is growing on me. It is certainly not a one-and-only Rolex but could be fun to have in the collection to brighten up a day in the office.

Had one for 2 months + and loved it. Found lots of tiny scratches on the bezel at Christmas and chucked it back at the dealer. I normally wore it to work under a micro fleece and a big jacket so had an easy life... Rolex said normal "wear and tear" I said Bollocks! Dealer gave me my money back... however I am now considering getting another one and keeping it "for best" as I really really miss it. Sold my Cosmonaute and Emergancy in the meantime and don't miss them at all... Tricky call...

I like it alot after trying it on last week. If I already had the remaining two that round out my perfect foursome...it would next on the list.

If it gets released at Basel with the subdial @ 6 it might even take anothers place.

If the "5" was an "05" and it had a center seconds hand I'd be in.

The polished steel scratches with even fingers touching it. Even looking at it the wrong way causes scratches......but you returned it because of this???

I've never heard of someone returning a Rolex because of scratches..there's a first for everything lol

I haven't really got around to wearing mine yet, but it's a lovely watch.

I'm sorry, but this makes no sense. You returned a watch because the bezel shows wear? What did you expect?

I tried one at my AD , and I kind of liked the look and it was very comfortable but the deal breaker for me is the lack of Lume.

I've never found lack of lume an issue.

I always take my watch off at night so have never had to see a watch at night, however even if I did, you can see where the 12 is and the hands so I could still instantly tell the time.

What am I missing about peoples problem with the lume? It just puzzle me.

I also bought one after seeing it in the metal. wears really nice, very non traditional if you like that sort of thing. Although the line between the explorer and airking has always been kind of blurred.

I had the Air King, Explorer I and OP39 rhodium on my short list last year and went with the Explorer, no regrets. Cheers!
Made the same choice out the identical 3 watches...

For 4K+ I would expect more resistance to marks. Having had a few watches over my 50 years I have never had one that marked so easy. Uber lovely looking watch but so many marks on the bezel after such a short time alarmed me. I ride a motorcycle for a job now meaning my watch is under many layers of protection, and still it scratched. Maybe Chris Ward and Breitling have spoiled me with the anti scratch bezel...
Wear after a few months easy use is crap.. a 10 year old Breitling and a 20 year old Seiko showed less wear..

The AK 116900 is market as a less costly option to the 116400, I prefer the Milgauss.

I actually tried one on with a Milgauss and EXP1 to compare. I preferred the AK despite the AK being cheaper. I think it's a bargain, and IMO was the nicest of the 3.

handsome looking --- but to me, anything with the word "Air King" should be 34 MM. Just my opinion.
