Why safe queens?

Gave my girlfriend a diamond dial and bezel datejust for Christmas, she works at the airport and all her co workers tell her not to wear it to work as "they" think its to fancy...
I currently own a bluesy and a 1998 barked DD... My view is everyday til i die a Wildorf will grace my wrist,no one ever notices im wearing a rolex,so why not partake in exercising the perpetual motion of this marvel til I die not matter if its mowing lawn,at the bar,etc..
And the funny thing is my DD is the toughest watch i have yet to own..
I can wear it everyday no matter how strenuous the day may be,
My bluesy, well thats a bit more fragile..
Anyone else here with a similar opinion on everyday use the brand?

I think your girlfriend should wear the hell of that watch and not care about what everyone says. They are probably a bit jealous. Rolex are made to be enjoy unless you plan on collecting them and make a bit of dough down the line.
Also I think the airport is the safest place to work with a diamond Rolex on the wrist. I think it s nice of you to have purchased her that watch and she should wear it to show people what's up!!

PS: Doesn't the case of your barked DD get scratched with all that metal around??

Depends on the culture and her personality. Half the reason I own a speedy is because my BLNR can easily be seen as too flashy.

Seriously, not that many would bother to notice what's on your wrist. I wear a watch for my pleasure and not to impress others. So your girlfriend should wear the heck out of that watch and enjoy it as it was meant to be enjoyed. You are a great boyfriend and wearing that watch should also remind her of you...

Pics of the watch in question please. Jealous co workers me thinks. Bad move showing them in the first place imo. A datejust with diamonds doesn't look any more impressive than your average Micheal Korrs to the untrained gossiping female eye. She should have just wore it without letting its cost out of the bag.

Your girlfriend needs to hold up her wrist and fake licking the watch from clasp to dial, look them in the eye and say "you wish you had one".

Then shoot double finger guns and say bling bling because the dial and bezel have diamonds.

Then remind mary that her husband bought her a gold engagement ring, not white gold, not platinum... but YELLOW GOLD and that she has no business talking to anyone about jewelry.

Then eat lunch alone and plot and plan how to get another one.

Or at least that's what I would do. For sure lol.

I'm also an animal, not a girl. That's probably part of it. Part comedian, too.

A diamond dial and bezel will definately attract more attention, so from that standpoint I can see why some would feel that way.

That said, it's her watch and you bought it for to enjoy. As long as SHE doesnt feel self conscious wearing it then that's all that matters

I think most on here will concur that unless your a "watch" person you dont notice what folks are wearing on their wrist unless it has an inordinate amount of bling. My wife will say "hey did you see the shoes she was wearing " and I'm like WTF ?? the last thing I am going to notice is someones shoes

honestly, i think the diamonds is probably a bitch much for an airport job...for one, I'm betting most people who see it, will just assume she stole it from someone's luggage

Almost most people working at an airport make minimum wage or just above it, includes gate agents, rampers etc. They are most likely jealous of her watch as I'm sure the price might of slipped out causesing more attention to the watch. I'd just keep wearing the watch don't worry about it.

Most airline employees are union workers making well above minimum wage, at least in the US.

Well, shoot...the airport is one of, if not the most heavily secured places in our country. If you can't wear a Rolex there safely, well then...where can you?

As a side note, even PM or diamond Rolex models aren't as flashy as a lot of "designer" watches. So she should wear that thing...daily. And let's see some pics!

I will relate a story I heard at church:

A dad was saving a bottle 1959 Chateau Lafite for a very special occasion which had once been gifted to him. As the family moved through life, so did the wine. From time to time, the family would ask to open the wine, but the father never did, only saying that it was being saved for a special occasion.

The father eventually passed away without ever opening the wine. The family found the bottle when they were moving their mom to a more appropriate living space.

They opened the wine.

It had spoiled long ago.

This isn't a lesson about proper wine storage, but rather USE IT WHILE YOU CAN BECAUSE YOU WILL NOT LIVE ON THIS EARTH FOREVER!!!

When they cap out at 15 years seniority sure they make 20 an hour but most are on no more than 10.00 an hour.

People get enjoyment from things in different ways. I agree that a watch is meant to be worn...however, for some, just owning it is enough.

I'm more surprised that the 16613 has been classed as fragile

Depends where you work and what you do for a living I guess, but in London even a basic Rolex can be seen as a statement. I'm thinking about getting a sea dweller, maybe that will be a little less loud compared to the polished centre links and dual colour bezel of the BLNR.

her coworkers notice hers, but no one notices yours?

maybe you just don't see that they notice.

I am not advocating for her to not wear it. I am just pointing out that maybe it makes her a little bit uncomfortable based on the feedback that she has gotten.

to each their own. you do you, let her do her.

Everyone notices a Rolex, it is the world's most recognisable watch brand because of the ubiquitous advertising. People who don't have a Rolex usually don't mention it to the wearer, because, well, how do you bring a thing like this up? But rest assured, chaps, everybody will see it.

Werid, I own a DD and a Bluesy, and while the DD has pleasantly surprised me with its ruggedness the Bluesy with a steel case and steel trimmed bracelet is much more durable?
