Need Information on Breitling Watch
Hello! I am new to this forum, and i was hoping someone on here would be able to help me out. My grandfather just died and one of the things he left me is this watch. I am going to include pictures so that hopefully someone can identify it and tell me a bit more about it.
The strap is broken, so if possible information about how to get that fixed would help. If the watch is fake, can someone also tell me if it is actually a fake, because i have no idea how to tell. PS. Since the watch is from my grandfather, i am not looking to sell it. Information on how much the watch is worth is helpful, but be aware that i am not going to sell it. Thanks!! Multiple ways to get to the pictures! http://img504.imageshack.us/g/dsc00450w.jpg/ http://yfrog.com/e0dsc00450wjx |

Hi And welcome.
I am not an experienced with this range of Breitlings as I am more into the Breitling Aeromarine models, however with the quality of the photos it would be a hard call. If you could put the camera on a stand and use the macro setting plus a bit of natural light the photos might be a little clearer. One thing I did notice which is unusual is that you said and showed the bracelet to be broken. This is unusual as most high end watch's bracelets are very very strong. Sorry I can't help. Cheers |

Hi and Welcome to TRF!
I dislike been the bearer of bad news, but that Watch is a Replica. The strap only needs the pins. Go to any jewelry store and they will repair it. Its a very easy job and some jewelers do it for free. |

I agree with Gaby on this one. A real Breitling Tourbillion sells for over 100K. You'd know if it were real.

Well as it is unfortunate to find out that is possibly a Replica, is there some sort of specific feature on the watch i can look at in person to confirm this?
Also, replica or not, is it a good watch worth fixing and wearing? Is there such a thing as a good replica and a bad replica? |

This is the only real Breitling I know of that has a toubillion movement.
You could also remove the case back and look at the movement. You'll be able to tell right away from the quality. |

I am not experienced enough to remove the back. I don't have the tools or the knowledge.
Should i take it to a specialist like a jeweler or something? |

The pics are horrible but clear enough to see its not a Breitling regardless of what the dial says. I don't get pics like that... everything but the watch is crystal clear just like those ebay ads for fakes.
Other than it having sentimental value, a broken fake watch is worthless. |

Bring it to a watch repair place and they can open it up. They can also provide you replace the pins needed to attach the bracelet.

Purchase a new Breitling. Take it to size, and see if there is any part of the fakewatch that might fit on the new one. You can say that part of the watch is my relatives, and the rest is original.
