I always have it my head that Omega depreciate very quickly -
And to be honest - I'm more of a Rolex Guy myself..... but I've passed opportunities up in the past and kicked myself - so this time I wanted to make sure !

Err buddy Stuart...isn't that the Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra Chronograph with co-axial movement n case marked Beijing 2008 Logo?

If so...grab it! while u still can...the Chinese would go nuts with this Limited Edition 2T Gold watch...besides it's a Chronograph!!!

Orchi - I don't think its Co - Axial - I know the AD Mentioned a Braod Arrow Casing???
If you go to the Omega site - its the one pictured with the Rose Gold Bezel on there....

I've just asked my AD on the phone - its an auto chrono rated movement from out of the Broad Arrow - not the Co-Axial

Err buddy Stuart...perhaps you wanna read what Chuck Maddox told about the 3301 movement being designed by Frederic Piquet or something like that...

or Maybe you should also read up the comparison from this article by...John B. Holbrook, II...regarding the 3301 family chronograph COSC certified movement.

Good luck...

It's a beauty for sure... but it's a lot of coin though... but it is a limited edition and a two tone... it's a tough call. Sorry I couldn't help.

Well Larry - I've decided to pass......

£3600.00 is list here according to the tags and the AD. I'm not an Omega person and 42.5mm case is a bit too large for my wrist anyhow. I just happend to be there when the delivery arrived and I was the first to view the watch - even before the guy in the shop had a chance to look at it properly.
It was the fact that I would of got in early - that attracted me, but at the back of my mind... was the dreaded re-sale value which I know that Omega are known for....

I think you did the wise thing, Stuart.

If the watch smiled at you then fine but this one is going to depreciate quite heavily, IMO.

Not as much as the standard T/T Omegas though.

Now that you've said that, let me give you my reasons..

Even though it is a LE watch, Omega sells many LE releases each year and you can almost always get a discount of some sort.. Even one highly sought after should get you at lest 10%.

But my main concern would be the 3301 (Piguet) movement in the watch.. Although They are great products, that movement had issues initially with the start/stop levers bending and failure to reset. They say that they have fixed the problem but I have heard of at least a few that still break inside and require a complete overhaul to correct..

That's a beautiful watch, and it may never fail, but I think you made the decision I would have made..

Hi Stuart,

If you want my honest opinion, I would wait until Basel is over and see what comes out from there by way of Rolex and other models.

£3600 is a lot of money.....and you might want to hold back until later.....when you might see something you really like and wish you had saved for that instead.

Just my 2 cents.

Good luck - JJ

Yes, I have also read about the issues with the F. Piguet Cal. 1285 movt. that Omega uses for their "own" Cal. 3301 movt.
I wonder if the issues have something to do with user MIS-use? I noted that it says in the User Manuel for the Cal. 3301 that one should never push both buttons at the same time (apparantly some must have to this, otherwise the warning would not be there).

Anyway, still biased at to buy an Omega SMP chrono diver in near future or rather wait (probably for a considerable amount of time!) for my grail NON-Rolex watch: the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms (non-chrono), 45 mm.

Basel is short for the BaselWorld Watch and Jewelry Show. It takes place each year in Basel, Switzerland and all the major watchmakers, including Rolex, bring out their new models.

It is watches by Rolex enthusiasts because Rolex, historically, does not show their new models anywhere else and it is a "first look" of what is to come..

This year is is April 3-8th
