Drsd MKV...service dial or normal production? thoughts
Looking at this 1974, 4.09 serial, DRSD. Dial is a MKV. Is this normal production dial or service? I know about the hands, bracelet, insert, etc.... just wondering if anyone had thoughts, or is familiar with the DRSD MKV dials. Longtime trusted TRF seller, whom I've purchased from in the past.
Any thoughts or opinions on this would be appreciated. |

It's a service dial. Story goes that these were available from Geneva for a period short time and were fitted to 1665's on an exchange only basis, meaning that you could only request a service/MK5 DRSD dial if your 1665 was currently fitted with an original DRSD dial.
Same goes for the 1680's fitted with a service/MK7 Red dial. |

Service dials typically command a discount. However, these DRSD and 1680 Red service dials are rare, desirable, and a beauty in their own respect. An example will surely trade for far less than an untouched original example, but will command a premium over a typical service dial with no red text.

Is this a luminova dial or tritium?
What would just this dial be worth today on the open market?? |

Service dials just look wrong in a vintage case.

One helluva service dial.
Reminds me of the Red 1680 Sub Emersm posted awhile back... These dials are absolutely gorgeous IMO |

Real or fake dial
Real or fake.
I'm assuming fake because 99+/100 of these are fake This is printed on a singer plate. If it is fake it appears it was modeled after these MKV service dials. The plots are granular, appear tritiumish, and glow green faintly for a short time after UV light exposure |

Took this dial to my local Authorized Rolex dealer service guy. They thought it was gen NOS MKV service dial and installed it for me.
Seems too good to be true, but I can enjoy the fantasy. |

Hah,
Did some recon on the fake sites- this is a very good fake dial made in Vietnam. This is going back to the seller. |
