They really arrived quickly. The watch looks good on your wrists and it does seem to wear larger than 38mm. It's also good to know the bezel is black in person, as it looked grey in Hodinkee's pictures. Congrats to all who got one.

If the seller has an eBay store, then for an $11,700 sales price they'd be looking at about a $700 margin before factoring in shipping to the buyer (if it was offered with free s/h) and the sales tax they'd have paid when they bought it from Hodinkee, which could've been sizable. So at best, call it $600 of profit if no sales tax was paid, and at worst, probably just barely above break even.

Who cares. I refuse to believe the majority went to dealers. Dealers want a better margin than that and history has not shown big gains on hodinkee collabs.

I don’t think dealers would buy these because like you say the margin is too low. The three on eBay I think are just private sellers.

Was just interesting to see how much markup is needed just to cover transactional costs

This is one from eBay. Pretty nice quality and single pass which I like more than the ones w extra hardware.

Yes, this is my main gripe against (and why I don't wear) NATO. Too much material. Perlon I dig (and wear if not on a bracelet), but I'm always on the lookout for something interesting.

Here’s a cool pic from IG of a vintage Technisub. Pretty clear that this reference was a big inspiration for the Dink watch.

is this true? you heard this today? I’d thought they were sold out of it a week ago—do you have a specific contact at the store you‘d be willing to message me?

Would be worth it to give them a call first thing tomorrow morning if interested. From my experience, the people at the NYC Blancpain boutique are pretty forthcoming and honest. You should have no problem getting a straight answer even without a contact.

Love it so far. Put my pepsi on yesterday and came back 2 hours later to switch back to the bathy. That is a good sign.

Same here. Wore Speedy yesterday and quickly switched back. The size makes it really easy to wear.

Looking to get a beads of rice for it...think it would look fantastic.

I may already be too late as they said the deposit could come in any minute...

if you're interested I'd pounce now (I won't hold it against you since I'm hesitating and the early bird gets the worm and all that...)

Driving home with it now :). It is 43mm and my wrist is 7”. It fits perfect and does not wear large at all. The brushed dial is nothing short of superb, the detail and waynthebdialnchanges based on how the light hits it, with the perfect brushed strokes outward from the middle, it is by far, in my opinion the most impressive dial of any of the watches in my collection and beats out the AP tappisiere dial, my Patek dials, and VC tappisiere dial. The detail and craftsmanship of the dial is something that it’s be appreciated in person, I tried my best to take photos showing it.

Great looking Bathy, but...this isn’t the model we are talking about.

This one...
