Kudos to everyone who bought one! Takes some stones to drop 10K with 3 minutes to think about it.

there is a 7 day return policy with no shipping cost if it doesn't suit the buyer.

Very nice. An escape clause is almost required with a snap decision purchase like this.

FOMO is a powerful marketing tool - Blancpain & Hodinkee just knocked one out of the park. Glad I slept through all of this or I might just have got caught up in it.

I purchased one and this particular watch I was waiting for, perfection in all aspects. Each can have their own opinion on the price but I did not hesitate.

they're fun events but for what it's worth I wouldn't get too FOMO'd about it--it's usually nothing special. always super crowded and rarely anyone important speaking / having anything interesting to say. I can't imagine there'll be the opportunity to thoughtfully try one of these bad boys on and purchase.

but all that being said I'll probably drop by so if anyone else is planning on it LMK.

Snagged one right before 10am. Was looking for a diver in my collection and I’m really liking what they did here.

One already up for sale on ebay ... for a cool $2099 profit (at least).

(I am not the seller, nor did I buy this watch ... just reporting. Mods, please remove if inappropriate)

Flippers are always on the case.

Overall, this is the best Bathyscaphe I've seen due to the smaller size (although perhaps it's a little too small at 38mm), no date, and easily readable Arabic numerals and batons. I had the watch in my cart but I ultimately decided not the pull the trigger, mainly because of the fauxtina. If this watch didn't have it, I might have gone through with the purchase. I would guess that the limited edition Hodinkee aspect of the watch might make up for the typical bath one takes when buying Blancpain at retail. In a way, however, I'm relieved I like but don't love the watch because I really don't need another diver, especially an expensive one, and I'm trying to reduce rather than expand my collection.

FF in 42mm and the Bathy in 40mm so anyone with 6,5 to 7,5 can wear them. Is it realy that complicated.
I agree. I've never tried on the 38mm but based on some of the posts here, it seems to wear small, even on a 6.7" wrist like mine. 42mm and 40mm seem like perfect sizes.

Everyone is a winner here. Blancpain and Hodinkee are breaking out the champagne bottle. If you didn't get one, you missed out on an expensive hyped up marketing trinket that ruins the integrity of horology. If you did manage to get one, you got a beautiful and well-made rare collectible that will retain its value, if not exceed it. Congratulations, everybody!

Wondering if the fauxtina is here to stay or just a fad. I find any fake patina a little ridiculous and would rather get a 20 or 30 year old piece w darkened tritium if I was after yellow/brown lume... but I prefer white superluminova...

Like huge watch sizes, I definitely think fauxtina is a fad that will eventually go away but it's gotten out of control, lasting longer and spreading farther than I would have originally thought.

I first noticed it on the Longines Legend Diver and while I didn't love it, I didn't think it looked too bad. When I saw that it made its way to the Omega Seamaster 300, I was disappointed and that's the main reasons I don't own that watch. I also didn't like to see it make its way to various other vintage inspired Omegas and I hope it doesn't make its way to the regular Speedmaster Professional, especially with the 321 movement. When Hamilton brought it out on their Khaki manual wind, I thought it detracted from the watch but I thought the Swatch group might confine it to their vintage inspired watches on it's lesser brands, as it looks cheap to me and something that belongs on an inexpensive watch marketed toward a hipster. Now that Blancpain has adopted it on at least three of its vintage watches so far, I'm convinced the Swatch Group is in love with fauxtina. I hope it goes away soon.

Me too - I might have gotten the IWC x Hodinkee Pilot if it wasn't for the fake patina.
