But I suppose it's more preferable compared to the "is it safe threads". Lol.

Looks like it was safe after all. Except maybe they didn't take it into a hot tub...

I clean mine with soft toothbrush and Dawn liquid soap every 2 to 4 weeks, depending on usage and if I got really sweaty in them. Soak in soapy warm water for 5 to 10 minutes, flex each link back and forth and hit them with toothbrush. Rinse and air dry. They look brand new when done.

Not a good indicator. Because its the lack of necessary lube & service that will
deep six a tough Rolex. The 3130 engine on that Submariner, it appears-
probably needs both testing and a service with new O-rings. A little salt water on the inside will match the outside fast...............

Could you describe how to remove the bezel, or should this be left to a repair shop?

Just pop it off with a knife.

How does this even happen? The owner of this watch must work at an oil rig.

I just set mine on a paper towel, spray it with Windex and scrub it with a toothbrush, rinse in warm water and dry with a soft cloth.... keeps it looking nice.

I think it is harder to remove on a Datejust than on a 5 digit sub or gmt

But I’m no expert

Well no, why would you want to take that off anyway. Possible with a knife though, have done it myself a few times, not ideal.

That’s nasty. I enjoy cleaning my watches, don’t know why anyone would let their watches get that filthy.

Okay to use a soft bristle tooth brush with the hand soap while cleaning? It won't create swirls, I imagine.

I do this once a month or right after I wear it on a really hot day. I'll let it air dry, sitting on a lint free, scratch free cloth and that is it.

No scratches. I use an ultra soft but I am sure soft and medium is fine also. The watch shines like new afterward.

Wow that’s quite disgusting. I would assume that even if you don’t wash your watch, at least wearing it in the shower would prevent most of this!

Filthy. Don’t understand how someone can let their watch get to that point.

Did the original owner die of flesh-eating bacteria? Sure seems possible . . .

Clean your watch please

Nasty!

I clean my watches regularly, but don't pop off the bezel all that often...

Maybe I will today
Edit:
Went and cleaned it just to see if I was an offender
Not bad, but not the cleanest either

After

Took like 5-10minutes
