Question fellow owners, does your rotor make a zipper noise as it comes to a stop? Mine spins smooth as can be and then zips to a stop as the little wheel beside the rotor bearing moves into position.

Hi everyone, I’m currently considering my first Lange 1 and came across two that I like.
Which would you suggest is more sought after, and a better value if at the same price? 101.031 (PG/Black Dial) or 101.027 (WG/Blue Dial)??

Platinum one for sure. I had 101.031 and rose gold just isn't very popular. Great watch.

The blue one was an one-year edition (2017 or 2018), and I am not sure if it still is available as new from AD. A great timepiece though.

The blue-dial 101.027 is not from 2017 or 2018 but much older... Around 2000 I would assume and certainly pretty rare.

Always choose the piece you prefer, my vote goes to the PG/Black dial version.

The blue one the 101.027 did not have a long production run in the early 2000's. They were not that popular so they changed the dial on them and placed a white dial with printed markers on this model and called it the 101.027x.
I am not sure of the figures produced of each, I have read that 101.027x has about 250 pieces were produced/converted.

Aint this the truth. Funny how an ALS thread in the Rollie forums can end up costing more

For ALS folks in the know, what’s reasonable range for an Lange 1 MP (Black Dial) - Ref. 192.029 - on secondary market? This piece has been on my radar for a few months and I take listing prices on Chrono24, for example, with a grain of salt.

I think I’m done

Have shifted my collection strongly to AL&S. I like their aesthetic, the relatively under-the-radar nature of the brand, the spectacular movements, and the size of many of their models, which work for my big wrist. I think this caps it off for me.

Question to owners: does Lange put anti-reflective coating on the outside? Some pics look like yes - with blue glares and others - like no. If yes - does it scratch noticeably over time like Omegas, IWCs, JLCs etc?

Yes, there is definitely coating on the outside sapphire of both the dial and the movement. I've never had an issue with AR coating coming off on omegas but don't have enough time on the Lange to answer that.

Ok. Thanks. Not good. It’s not about the coating coming off but simple little scratches which grow in number over time undermining the entire concept of unscratchable sapphire glass. Sadly ALS appears to be on the ‘dark side’ vs Rolex, Patek, AP, Panerai who put this crap only on the inside.

The legibility of the already glistening Lange would be tough without AR. I think fear of a scratch wouldn't make me trade to raw sapphire and live with glare all the time. I feel they made the right call. The dressier watch just isn't exposed to the same treatment as a seamaster.

Keep it mind these are solid gold or platinum timepieces so if AR scratches are happening imagine what the solid gold bezel is going to look like. A dry Kleenex scratches gold. Replacement of the crystal during service is a good option.

Good points sir. Makes sense to me. For a Perpetual Datograph it’s hardly an issue but rather a benefit indeed, unlike for a Seamaster.

Hey gang-

I recently purchased the 1815 Chrono which is a better version of the below PP 5172; BUT I do really like the strap on the PP Chrono. Anyone have any thoughts on where to get something similar for my ALS 1815 Chrono?

Congrats on the 1815 chrono, mine is still not arrived and can't wait to get it. Are you looking for the strap as well as deployant? Deployant you can get from Lange, for the strap they don't have a stock strap like this but Jean Rousseau makes some of their straps, I would check with them to see if they have a suede one like this.

Thanks - appreciate and looking for strap; I’ll check out your recommendation. Here is mine on wrist:
