Please help me I.D. this gold Omega Seamaster Automatic

Hello Everyone,

Thank you for taking a look at the watch. This Omega was recently left to my son from his Grandfather Richard. We'll be taking the watch in for service and to hopefully view the serial number on the case back (should it have a number?)

In the meantime, any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
John and Stewart

Are there any numbers on it anywhere?
Do you have the box and papers?
Do you have clearer closer images?

The only square Omega Seamaster was the 166.0042 and does not look like that in many ways.

Reference number should be located on the inside of the case back.

In mid ‘60’s Omega discovered magic with the Seamaster name and pasted it on almost everything they could make.

This one is a 6687 Square 14K Yellow Gold model with a Cal. 670 Automatic inside.

I agree, it needs to be opened, I could not find anything with screws on the caseback

No it doesn’t have screws.

The caseback is the standard Omega screwdown one of that era. Note the pattern on the OP’s picture.

The square casement fools the eye.

Thanks everyone !!

Only writing on the case back is "14 kt gold"
and on the dial it says, Omega Automatic and seamaster along with very small type at 6pm position; "swiss made"

at some point I'll be shooting over to my jeweler/watch person to have it opened and possible serviced if its within their scope of skill.
