Definitely connoisseur but I fear I’m turning in to a collector.

What’s the difference? I personally think that most of us are hobbyist/connoisseurs of finer watches/things. Collecting in production watches doesn’t feel very collectorish if that’s a word.

Guys I respect as collectors are guys that chase down vintage references vs guys like me that can access watches.

Maybe I’m wrong just how I feel.

Are you a collector or a connoisseur? Is there a distinction?
If i collect pieces of shits of various sizes and colors, i'm still a collector. Doesn't make me a connoisseur unless, for example, I taste them all.

I think 8 is the sweet spot for me. One for each day and one extra just because.

Very cool.

I bought a watchmakers tool set and am signing up for a class soon. Going to buy an ETA movement and build a watch. Really looking forward to it.

Ignoring the defintions, for me a connoisseur is someone who knows very much about his respective faible and is enjoying all the hidden gems. These people tend to collect vintage and are extremly interested in independant watchmaking. So a pretty small circut of people and they give a shit about whats currently in. ;)
