Great piece. Seiko has been putting the crown at 4 o'clock on automatic models since the early 60s (Seikomatics, etc) and the first automatic Grand Seiko had one there, too, in 1967. These were more to accentuate the lack of need for a winding crown than for comfort, and were flush with the case, but the divers - from 1967 onwards - were/are surely for comfort as you say, as the crowns were more prominent

I have the blue Seiko alpinist and the Batman, so had to change up the colors a bit for my collection. The blue GS is beautiful!
