Would you trade a full set 2020 Explorer 214270 for a 1996 Coke GMT?

TRF- I'd like to ask your opinion: Would you trade a 2020 Explorer 214270 (full set) for a 1996 GMT 16710 on a jubilee (no box or papers)? I love the Explorer but sometimes feel the dial and case are too large. I may be overthinking it. I'd need to add cash to the trade as well. Thoughts? Am I crazy for considering this??

I wouldn't trade a modern/new watch for an old watch from 1996. There are huge differences in manufacturing quality, if I need to be frank, and I couldn't nor wouldn't go backwards that far.

I wouldn't do that trade because i like full sets. There are a ton of 16710s out there with box and papers. You are not crazy for considering it, but let's keep looking for another 16710.

No way. The Coke was never on a jubilee so it is not an original.

Yes. I think the 42mm explorer is too big and trendy.

Wasn't it possible to request a jubilee with an AD?

Wrong watch. The 214270 is the 39mm. But I can agree with your sentiments, even though I own and like both the 40mm and the 42mm Explorer II.

As far as that trade, heck no! I love the 39mm Explorer too much to ever part with it!

Keep the Explorer - wait for the next Coke. It has to be coming soon.

Yes I would definitely trade. Yes it was a option to come with a jubilee. The 16710 is an icon that they are not making any more of. The box/papers wouldn’t bother me a bit.

I have a coke and I would say no. Only because i think 1996 is a little too old. the sweet spot for 16710s is 2000s onwards. Also no box and papers is a problem for me.

That’s wrong. The GMT 16710 was coming with oyster bracelet or jubilee and coke, pepsi or black insert.

I would trade a 6-digit for 5-digit every day.

I would being I prefer 5 digit models over 6 digit but I would pass on the one you are looking at & go for a sharp full set. And yes they were offered as a jubilee option as well. I would also search for a 2000 model and up w the upgraded SEL and better lume.
