Bezel defect

Hi all,

New to this forum.

Got my gmt recently and discovered a white speck on the bezel (between 22 and the triangle, above the dot marker)

RSC says it's a defect and will replace it under warranty.

Would like to ask if anyone has had such issues with rolex's ceramic bezels, and would you guys recommend changing it?

Thanks for the input!

A blind man would love to see it myself even with your high magnification struggling to see it in picture.

Agree,

There’s not much to see here.

I would leave as it is.

If RSC said they will replace whats the problem?

They will most likely do that while you wait or go get a coffee and read the paper and it will be finished.

100%. I would leave as is. A 50X magnifier would find hundreds of little spots. I looked at my Sub with ceramic bezel and it has many very tiny "defects" - as does the rest of the watch.

In any case, enjoy your very nice watch.

Good (and quite right) of Rolex to sort it.

Because of the quoted 1 month turnaround time.

Thanks all for your input! Not so much of me being fussy, but was checking if it was a known issue. :)

Try to enjoy your watch. I understand that some want to pour over their new purchase with macro pictures. I understand their disappointment when everything is not perfect. However, nothing mass produced is perfect. Don’t let the minutiae overwhelm the enjoyment of your almost perfect watch. Personally, I would not bother with it.

Let them replace it. I can see it clearly, and it is a clear defect that isn't going to raise any value in the timepiece.

I have dings on mine from daily use that will look like a crater if you zoom in that much.

There is also a 100% chance that if you have the bezel replaced, the new one will also have at least one tiny "defect" under magnification.

Welcome to TRF. If it were me, I’d probably leave it be. There are few stories of watches that come back with scratches and dings that weren’t there before. Not a lot, but it does happen.

There is ZERO reason why you need to leave there for this type of job. Just tell RSC your going to continue to enjoy the watch while the part is ordered in or whatever and when they are ready to swap it they can do it on the day

Sydney RSC actually recommended to me once that I take the watch back until they get the part in and they will do it immediately. Doesnt make sense to give your watch to RSC just to sit there. This is like a 10 mins job.

I don’t think it’s a known issue. But nothing is perfect and since it’s covered you’re good to go.

I would not waste my time with such an "issue."
Over time you will incur many dings and scratches. Common complaint here, "my watch is getting scratched."
Wear it - enjoy it - let it accumulate its "history" of normal wear.
Or put it away in a safe and forget you have it.
IMHO The grime on your bracelet and around the cyclops is Waaaay more distracting!

The fact that (a) you noticed it, (b) noticing it led you to ask about it here, and (c) RSC said they'd replace it under warranty makes this a no-brainer for me. Wear another watch for a month (assuming you have to wait that long because you're mailing it) and let RSC replace it.

But when you get it back, I'd strongly suggest that you never, ever look so closely at your watch again. It's asking for trouble! :)

OP, I agree it is a defect, but one that I would live with - it's not bad at all. If you look for them, you'll probably spot 10 small blemishes or "defects" on your dial, case, bezel, bracelet. You will always be disappointed if expecting perfection. I wore magnifiers to change some bracelet screws, then inspected the rest of my watch, and immediately wished I could take those 30 seconds back! And like someone else mentioned, if you opt for the replacement, you always run the risk of new scratches being accidentally put on the watch during service.
