What does it feel like owning one? If you have upgraded from ss to pt or have a ss and a pt. Any advice for me as I am planning to upgrade from a DJ to a 118206? I have not seen the 118206 in glacier blue that is why I asked. Thanks, and merry xmas!

I'm on the hunt. 18k DD will always be my "promotion" president, but the Platinum with roman quadrant blue dial looks amazing...

I really liked the Pt DD and considered buying when I went from SS and YG to SS and Pt. In the end I decided to go with my Daytona!!! I wore it almost non stop for the first year but I've tapered the wrist time to keep it special although it's on now and a bit addictive. Key is having other watches that you really love to keep the diversity alive.

Still special today!!!

Ideally I would like to get the 228206 in motif quadrant. But I can't afford spending 50k+. So the watch I am planning is 118206 in glacier blue and is discounted with promo code for $26,xxx. That's a decent price for a certified pre-owned watch. A grey dealer might sell for a 2-3k less perhaps. I think its worth paying 26k for a certified watch and official Rolex dealer, having the peace of mind that everything about the watch is original. What are your suggestions? Merry Xmas!

Seems like you are settling for an older gen 36mm instead of a current gen 40mm.... to me, these are very different watches and if it was the DD40 I wantedC then I would just wait and keep saving. Personally, I am not a fan of the romans on the 36mm but love them on the DD40.

If you really like 228206 (40mm), you should not settle for 118206 (36mm). It's better wait and save some more money to go for the first choice and keep it forever.

I think for me the 36 will better for my wrist. the 228206 the motif dial looks amazing (only seen online) however I think 40mm will to big for my wrist. Also, I have the funds to buy the 228206 but I am not on the level. I haven't seen the 118206 in person, only online. Some people say the glacier blue does not look blue. If I am going Pt 118206 would be it because I would feel comfortable with the price. Even though its a ton of $ for a watch.

Nothing beats the weight of a plat watch. I had various SS models and then went for my first PM watch. I was hooked on the weight. Also, for a mass produced watch... there are a lot less PM watches vs SS. My DD is on my wrist more than my daily sub. Once you come on the PM side.... its hard to go back imo. Plus its a stealth wealth watch.... not flashy at all and thats something I like personally. I traded in my YG sub because the attention it received vs this. You can dress it up or down.

If you buy platinum I recommend Pamp Suisse.

Here is my 118206 with the glacier waves Arabic dial on my 7” flat wrist. If you have a wrist smaller then 7” I would definitely go 36mm. If you go with the 36mm make sure you get one that has the newer clasp with the hook and beak locking mechanism.

Pt dd

This is so on my list!!!

But, I need to actually address the question. I have recently tried this watch on, but didn't have the $ ready, so I did not buy. However, I will say it was hefty in a good way, stunning beautiful and instantly, YES INSTANTLY, made me want it. On the list. Worth it when you can afford it.

I don't have one yet, but will soon. Once it touched my skin I knew it was meant to be. It feels amazing.

PT is a lot heavier than steel. You definitely have to be okay with that!

PT is also softer than SS so will scratch easier.

+1. Having ~6.5” wrists, I couldn’t’ve said it better myself. This made buying my 118206 a no-brainer, and I’d do it exactly the same today.

This is perfect watch. We look like we have the same size wrists. 38mm, 39mm and 40mm are my perfect sizes.

The initial astonishment of the amount of heft will disappear once it’s on the wrist .

I’ve never noticed that it picks up any more marks/scratches than my SS watches, besides, PL is well known to be able to look after itself.

My wrist is 7.5”. After buying the big boys (sd43, SD, JC DS). I found my preference is 42mm and under with height on the smaller side. The DD has perfect shape.

Wow, I have about the same size wrists. I know what you mean, but 40mm and under it feels like you are wearing a bracelet. I personally like that over a bigger bulkier watch. I am a maintenance mechanic and janitor by trade. I need a watch that doesn't feel like you are wearing it.

Its softer than SS (imo all watches scratch), but the metal does not come off like Gold. It actually moves around the ding or mark and you can “push” those dings on the metal back when it gets polished.

In my experience this hasn't been the case and I've clunked more than my fair share of door handles with it

Honestly, I wear my PL DD with less concern than any of my watches
