Very cool story.

What you know gets you in the door. Who you know gets you into the party on the roof deck of the penthouse.
Always be kind to people. All people.

Relationships in watches, business and all of life are everything. Great story with a lot of promise. Good luck to you (from one lawyer to another).

It’s amazing the people you can meet through watches. A guy I met in the forums actually married my wife and I and I consider my closest friend.

Sounds like a great first encounter. You both sounded like you enjoyed each others company. Richard Mille is known to regulary throw fanciful events for its customers so you're actually buying a lifestyle and networking opportunity in addition to their timepiece.

The best line in the movie!

Great story! And super cool your great-grandfather was Lenny Montana. That's another crazy story about how he ended up in the Godfather.

Now I want to know who you met!

Sorry in advance for the long-ish post. I thought I would share a recent experience outside an AD.

Earlier in the day I dropped off my DJ41 to get a link removed. When I returned to pick up my piece I noticed an older gentleman eagerly waiting to get inside. He was wearing the yellow gold GMT green dial on a rubber strap. I told him I adored the piece and that I'd never seen it on a strap. He said he was at the AD to get it swapped to a leather strap. He also mentioned he was there to pick up a new piece (more on that later!). He began showing me photos of his massive collection, including every Rolex you could imagine (even the SA later admitted that he is their biggest and best client). It was really obvious how passionate he was about watches. Eventually, he saw my Hulk on my wrist and asked me what I did for a living. I told him that I'm about to graduate law school. He asked which law school I attended. Turns out that his lawyer went to the same school. When I asked what kind of law his lawyer practiced he said "He does everything. He only has one client - me, kinda like Tom Hagen from The Godfather." I then told him that my great-grandfather played the great Luca Brasi in the movie (he loved that fun fact). At that point we were both let into the store. He told me to leave my number with the SA so we could connect later.

As it turns out, I was still outside the store with my family when he finished his purchase. He approached us and we continued conversing. After about ten minutes of conversation, I couldn't resist any longer. I had to know what he picked up! I asked him what he thought about his new piece, to which he responded, "oh! I haven't even shown you yet." To my surprise, he allowed me to do the unboxing. Frankly, I couldn't believe my eyes. I was holding the one and only GMT meteorite dial. To be honest, I have never seen a more beautiful piece in my life. The conversation ended with him texting me his contact info and telling me he would love to invite me to lunch with him and his lawyer in the near future so I could pick their brains about my professional aspirations and, of course, watches.

I later learned just how accomplished this gentleman was. As a young soon-to-be lawyer, I was extremely pleased to have met such a prominent and influential figure in my area. It really says something about the connections one can make through watches.
Amazing story. Hope this coincidence will open you big doors in your professional career.
